While you're so quick to blame OUYA for the problem, from having read about what's going on, I really do think it's your TV, especially if it's an older model. I have two HDTV sets, for example: one relatively new set and one that's about 6 years old or so. My OUYA works just great on the new set, and, while it will work on my older set, the aspect ratio is somewhat different and more "condensed." Because of the way this older TV is programmed to accept HDMI, there's nothing I can do about it: all of the various picture modes show the exact same distorted aspect ratio.
Is this OUYA's fault? No, of course not. It works perfectly on one TV and not as well on another. Do I have to think that my OUYA console is biased against certain TVs and deliberately reprograms its HDMI output based on which TV it's hooked up to? I realize that it's the fault of my older TV, which was designed to accept certain HDMI inputs as they existed several years ago, but newer technology may do things a little differently that this TV doesn't quite know what to do with.
But if you want to have 100% faith that your TV set is completely faultless and that OUYA is built so poorly that it can't even handle a simple thing such as putting out a proper HDMI signal, go ahead. Maybe you can even try to get your money back.

Whilst I accept my TV is 'getting on' at a old age of 7 years, it's not the fact that I may need a new TV in a few years, but it's the fact that EVERY other piece of hardware that goes through hdmi on the same TV outputs just fine, xboxs, Playstations, laptops, Apple TV, DVD player, HD upscalers, even cheap and nasty Chinese android boxes....all work and output correctly....except the Ouya....now do I think it's still the Ouyas fault for not correctly outputting at 720p, 1080i, 1080p then yes I do.
