About the police being called... I love how they left out that their permits were perfectly in order and they did nothing illegal.

If they really wanted the OUYA to fail, they wouldn't have even purchased inventory. Why help put them in stores a cross the country.
Because a business is about profitability and image. They will probably carry GamePop too. You can't be a retail outlet that claims to be THE place to get game related paraphernalia and not sell other devices, even if you've invested in a competitor. But that doesn't mean the agenda can't lie elsewhere.

Gamestop is carrying the device, but not actively promoting it, which seems a little odd for a new $99 item. In a store like GameStop, where the average PS3 or X-Box game is $50, that's practically an impulse buy. I've heard anecdotes from some suggesting that policy comes down from corporate itself.

The danger is they will do what everyone else has done, which is pick the games they (and consumers) are familiar with, then make out that the system only has a bunch of ports.

We should all urge them on twitter/facebook etc to check out various Local multiplayer games that (IMO) really make the system shine. The towerfalls and bombsquads etc.

    Just something like:

@GameInformer Are you reviewing OUYA games yet? Been having a blast playing Bombsquad with my mates

So, I just read this article, and it seemed to me to be fair but critical. It was already outdated (as only a monthly magazine can be) and certainly wasn't PRO-ouya, but I felt it hit a neutral tone with the facts. In the end they didn't appear to know what to make of the darn thing. Like most of the public.

    What did you think?

EDIT: In response to James below, I read the article in the hardcopy/physical magazine. I cannot find the same article on their website.

Do you have a link? I couldn't see it on their main site? Or you mean in the actual paper/.pdf magazine?

*Think* it's still a 12 issue/yr physical mag (circul 3rd largest in US, if Wikipedia is correct, hard to believe) but digital content is online as well. Mag is published by GameStop Corp, of course. Are you wanting link to original article or subsequent articles? Don't have physical mag but think I've bookmarked their articles about OUYA.

Re: Game Informer reviews OUYA next month

Ironically in spite of price, the Shield is on average getting very good reviews from the media and users. The device has now sold out to consumers (that of course is relative to how many produced in the first place).

It will be interesting to see their (GI) perspective also with the Shield, which is directly marketed as a niche gaming device. The Ouya on the other hand was intended for mass market, but so far seems to have become a niche device itself.

It's Nvidia. People were going to buy it. Marketing and promotion goes a long way even for bad products, expensive products, etc.
Doubt there are many out there.

Thing is, it is not a bad product. Quite the opposite. Fast, good UI, powerful wifi, good controller and in spite of portable centric, hdmi and blue tooth controller support is very good. Factor in devs are updating their apps with a free mapping profile from Nvidia, the Shield seems to have a solid lead in spite of the high price.

I haven't had time to read through forum so this is probably elsewhere but Game Informer did review Towerfall on July 25th.
    http://http://www.gameinformer.com/games/towerfall/b/android/archive/2013/07/25/review.aspx

On the other hand, Game Informer, being thorough, also had this article about Towerfall on other platforms: http://http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2013/07/19/towerfall-creator-bringing-the-game-to-pc-in-talks-with-sony-microsoft-and-nintendo.aspx
