Thread: Overheating

  1. #11

I played for a few hours last night. The Ball. And it was not hot. And it had been on for like a week prior to that. Maybe yours is defective.

There is ventilation on the top too. It is definitely exclusively a malfunction because my fan broke off and I removed it (dev console) and played it just fine for weeks before requesting a new fan.

Darn, that is horrible news... Was kind of hoping mine wasnt the only one with this issue. Well thanks for the replies, now I know its normally not supposed to be that hot and will look into what may be causing it. Already submitted a help request with Ouya as well.

I also do not understand the cooling design. I'm assuming the cool air is drawn in from the bottom, but it has no place to escape from the top.
    Seems like a bad design.
It has 4 vents in the top, along the edges. Of course, the fan isn't oriented towards the vents, the fan is sideways.

The first day that I used it my USB thumb drive got really hot. The metal plug. But I don't think that it's happened since. I'll pay closer attention tonight.

Good to know, thanks. Couldn't see the top vents in any of the photos.

I still say facing the fan pretty much against the side of the console was a horrible design choice... The airflow is so restricted, I wouldn't be surprised if we had another PS3 blunder on our hands...

Tegra 3 works just fine without the fan enclosed in a phone or a tablet, so I wouldn't worry about it. If the device is overheating, then it might be a lemon.

    Re: Overheating?

But the T3 phones and tablets are ot overclocked (they are actually underclocked for increased longevity)
