Tip it on it's side so that the power button is facing you... should improve overheating and controller lag at least a little bit... it did for mine.

I started using a laptop usb fan I bought in a 99p store around 2 years ago and decided to try it on the Ouya today. I can say it works pretty well and the Ouya doesnt get hot anymore

Mine works fine. It only kicks on when the Ouya is really being pushed.

The fan is almost silent so it's quite easy to think it's not working, of course you might have a duff one.

You might want to remove the protecting layer from the top of the device. There are venting holes on the top too, it probably keeps them covered.

This is a great tip. Tried it and my Ouya now stays significantly cooler (not that I had any overheating issues though).

I got my Ouya yesterday and I noticed it was the heating up but than I noticed that I didnt remove the sticker cover on the bottom so I thought that will solve the issue, but after playing some emulators the emulatores actually slowed down and the ouya is super hot! that it was not comfortable to hold it in my hands, what can I do to reduce the heat, and how can I make the emulators go on normal speed for games ( n64, genesis, nds, snes ) all slow
