Thread: Don't Eat Soap!

    Don't Eat Soap!

I am very close to publishing the OUYA version of my game Don't Eat Soap

This is an 8-bit-styled retro-game, lovingly inspired by Bubble Bobble.

It is programmed in the OHRRPGCE and is the first OHRRPGCE to be ported to OUYA (or any Android for that matter)

This game is FREE. I might add a "Donate" button later, but there is nothing to be unlocked.

The intital release will probably be single player only, but I do plan to add 2-player support as soon as I work out how to make multiple controllers work with sdl-android

    Awesome. Love Bubble Bobble NES.

How many levels are in this?

    2 Player support, someday ??? I hope.

    Thanks!

It has 30 regular levels plus 1 boss level. I might add more later, but I wanted to concentrate on other stuff first.

2-player support is definitely planned, I just don't know if I will have it working for the first release or not.

Hello! Glad to see and OHRRPGCE user!

The Android port is still somewhat experimental. Hopefully we can call the Android/OUYA support offical by the next stable release.

Right now it is a lot of work to package an OHRRPGCE game for Android, because you need to compile from source using a development fork of FreeBasic which has not yet been merged with official freebasic, and you have to use a development fork of sdl-android which has not yet been merged with pelya's offical sdl-android. Eventually I want to make it as simple as going to the "Distribute Game" menu and picking "Export for Android/OUYA" but I have a heck of a lot of work to do if I want to get it working that smoothly

Haha, awesome...my brother and I played the !$@!&! outta Bubble Bobble as kids. Totally going to download if it hits Sandbox. =)

Well, it looks more like a weird limbo between the Atari 2600 and the NES graphics-wise IMHO. That's not to say it doesn't look good though. Can't wait for it to get in the sandbox so I can see how it plays!
I'm a proud Ouya owner and developer!

One of my Ouya exclusives has started development, you can check out the dev log here:

    Chomp Hoppers Dev Log

Yep, Chomp Hoppers has gone from having a PC prototype to being fully exclusive, thanks to me not being able to meet the Adventure Jam Deadline. Expect more impressive updates after Ludum Dare.
