    Love - The Bancast

    Currently the game is available for free, and has six levels. The full version will be $1.99, and will have 12 levels to start, and more as I add them.

    Love+ is a minimalistic platforming game with a retro aesthetic and a focus on a challenging but not unfair difficulty. It has an innovative respawn system, 6 levels, and a great soundtrack.

    The challenging levels are balanced with the inclusion of a simple yet unique respawn system wherein the player can leave a checkpoint at any location at any point, as long as they are on solid ground.

    Beyond the visual aesthetic, the challenging level design, and the abundance of features, there is the fantastic soundtrack composed by James Bennett, which bring the seemingly simple 3-color atmospheres to life.

    It is also available for PC and Mac through Level Up Studios or Desura for $1.99, with a custom level creation kit. It's also on Steam Greenlight, if you can loan a yes vote.

    note: I know people are sick of the slew of constant retro games, but I urge you to try it out. The only thing you'll be out is 28mb of space on your Ouya and a little of your time. Give it Love a chance.

    I'll check it out tonight! I've been neglecting my Ouya but plan to spend a lot of time with it after work.

    Great game but for some reason I could only get it to work with a ps3 controller and not the Ouya controller. Also had some overscan issues which is common on Ouya.

    Is this the original Love and Love+ is coming later or is this a preview of Love+? Will the Ouya version have any of the level creation abilities or ability to play user created levels?

    In any case it's a great design with enjoyable music that complements it perfectly. It's tough but not frustrating due to the respawn mechanic. Recommended to anyone that likes platform games.

    The only problem I see with Love for me is I have other games I would rather play. Other than that the game seems very responsive and challenging as described.

    Just finished the demo and loved it. I really dig the graphical style and look forward to playing more in the future. I would ditch the respawn feature though, or only make it available on Easy mode. Having this on Normal feels like cheating, like using Save States on an emulator. I think you should have preset checkpoints for normal mode and unlimited respawn points for easy. I also hope you are planning more than 12 levels, the 6 in the demo went by so quickly, but if there is custom level support I'll definitely be purchasing this and playing it for a long time to come.

    Hi Fred, I'm itching to try out Love, but my OUYA controller is not recognized by the game. Do you know why that might be? It seems like jbrodak had the same problem above, but unfortunately I don't have a PS3 controller. Any help would be appreciated.

    @GoodyGood,

    Not sure if this is the problem with Love specifically but every now and again my Ouya controller will turn on and register itself as Player 2, even though there are no other controllers turned on. Some games I've noticed will only work if the controller is Player 1. I would advise you to turn off all controllers and try again as Player 1.

    Any news on the full game? Just played the demo and found it fantastic. Pure plattforming essence and the really awesome soundtrack keeps you trying and playing again and again... "LOVE" it.
