    Re: BAXY Custom Launcher

This was answered earlier. As soon as you go into discovery an OTA will attempt to install. Just turn off updates in settings.

When it lists apps it puts lowercase items at the bottom. I'm not sure if I'm one of the few that would like it to be alphabetical even with lowercase
    How it is:
    Amazing Frog
    Mupen64
    epsxe

    How I mean
    Amazing Frog
    epsxe
    Mupen64

I feel like there's a clearer way to say this but I'm not very fluent right now lol

Also our VLC app got put up on the discover store. But it has a widget mode that works with baxy. But in a limited fashion. I haven't looked into it on our end yet but it should work normally. If you could take a peek at it thatd be cool. Be sweet to have these working together.

I'm amazing, you probably just haven't realized it yet.

Love the BAXY Custom Launcher! I brought my Ouya to a "mansion" party and had this background for the occasion :

People really seemed to love it! As for the background music, I just edited a song that I wanted to use and manually set it at an appropriate volume. For anyone that wants the background music to be quiet, just edit the mp3 yourself in a program like Goldwave, it worked great for me. Here's the track I chose to use:

Thanks for reporting the sorting issue! I'll look into that.

And I'll see what I can do to support the VLC Widget ;-)

If you ever manage to get a root out to Ouya that requires no work, let me know. Otherwise, this is really awesome and tempting.

If I can pull that off, I will me more famous than Chainfire.

    But, no.
    That is never-ever-ever gonna happen.
Root will always require some work.

    But I pinkie-promise I will give it a try ;-)

    How To Root the OUYA

Ok, I have tried serveral root-methods, but none require no effort at all. (some don't even work)
Almost all root methods require Android SDK Setup on your PC.
That is the hardest part of rooting the OUYA. (*kuch* drivers *kuch*)
But there are good tutorials for that.

    I tried:

Method 1: The proper way; tl;dr: this is the one you want to use.
    http://frankkie.nl/baxy/root.html
    You need:
    - Android SDK Setup
    Steps:
    - Download need files (see: http://frankkie.nl/baxy/root.html)
    - enter some commands in the terminal
    - Done

    Method 2: race-condition root; tl;dr: Not working
    You need:
    - Android SDK setup
    Steps:
    - run the script found here: https://github.com/kosborn/p2p-adb/b...ter/root4.x.sh
    - Nothing happens, because the exploit is fixed since 4.1.2 that exactly the android version of OUYA.

    Method 3: p2p-adb root; tl;dr: Not working
    You need:
    - Rooted Android Phone/Tablet
    - Special usb cable with 2 micro-usb-b ports or a micro-usb-to-go-adapter
    Steps:
    - Download https://github.com/kosborn/p2p-adb/ to rooted android device
    - run in a terminal: sh run.sh
    - try to root ouya
    - Nothing happens, because the exploit is fixed since 4.1.2 that exactly the android version of OUYA.

Method 4: Recovery; tl;dr: Way to hard to even bother.
    You need:
    - usb-keyboard
    - Android SDK setup
    Steps:
    - Turn of OUYA, plug keyboard in OUYA
    - press ALT + PrintScreen, press i several times
(adb reboot recovery does not seem to work!!)
    - (OUYA enters recovery mode, black screen)
    - press Home, you'll see the Recovery menu.
    - You can now sideload an update.zip using ADB.
But that zip does not really exist, so you need to make that first.
(And thats just way to much work and effort)
