We Have A Recurring Problem. *Moderators Must Read*

After I've been able to catch up on all the forum posts and everything. I've noticed that double posting, post that need moving, cross-posting, and same discussion topics are swarming the forum. Off-topic posting as swelled down thankfully, but I honestly have a hard time just looking for what information I want to acquire on this forum and that's because of all the wasted space on here.

The staff here is pretty oblivious to this problem, which in all honesty is fine considering it's a problem randomly encountered and not searched for. I feel that we need to enforce a stronger emphasis on the current rules and not necessarily make things harder for people with new; more restricting ones. I made this a while ago and while few have read it, I think it's a good start.

Really there's not much we can do about this as adding more staff will do more harm than good. Enforcing more restricting rules is a obvious draw-back. I have a few ideas but I'd like to hear your thoughts.

What needs to be done is this, whenever someone fixes a double post or any issue for that matter (erase a link, moves a thread to the correct place, etc..), write it down so that the poster knows he did something wrong. Then the next time he won't do it.

That's not even being done sadly. I've seen moderators and administrators completely ignore blatant broken rules which are related to the content of people's posts. That's the one thing I'd say could be improved staff-wise and that is to clench your asses, bite your lips, and hit the edit post button.

Well, at least I do it. Just earlier I locked down a thread and gave a reason to that lock-down. Then on another thread I erased a link and explained why I did it. If everyone else does it, then maybe we'll see a change.

Yes, you're extremely helpful and while I don't want to point any fingers. I doubt a trend of "doing your job" is going to happen with the others.

As for double posting, there are some vBulletin add-ons that auto merge double posts, like this one: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=233234
I think this forum should have one of those implemented, it would be one less problem.
"I may not be your first kiss, your first love, your first boyfriend, your first dream, your first gift, or your first thought, and I don't want to be the last one, I just want to be the person that makes you laugh when you need it, hug you when I can, have you by my side for a long time, I just wanna be the person that makes your days happier, and if in the future, we're not together, I'd like you to remember me with a smile..."

That is a very good suggestion Amadeus. I have seen it in effect somewhere else although I can't remember where... And it was both handy and tidy.

What I find interested is this:

This modification is not available for vBulletin 4.0.x

This modification is not required for vBulletin 4.2.x Onwards.

We are running version 4.2.x, meaning this shouldn't even be an issue.....

Merged posts. Try not to double post next time. Makes things cleaner.

    I'd say 1440 minutes aka 24 hours.
Backer #276, Standard Edition + 1 Extra controller.
    5/13 - Delivered, replacement controller received 5/24
May try to get oddball controller replaced (good analog, bad faceplate)

I would check every 8 hrs. and the Guest IP ehhhh id almost like it off, just another way for someone to bypass the system. But then again is double posting REALLY that much of a problem here.
