Im down for upgrades as for pricing give them options like ign does. I think that way if a user is even willing to pay, i think the more options the better.

Edit i see Riot had an idea of gold, silver, etc. Thats good idea to. Choices are choices.
This is just a thought, but maybe team up with a few devs and give subscribers a free Ouya game each month? And in return you could give those devs a featured page or something, kinda like Playstation Plus or Xbox Live Games With Gold.these games could be given in the form of an unlock code, apk, special sale ( as Eddie mentioned ) , etc. Would be a win/win for both subscribers and game devs (since their games would be featured. Anyway, it's just a thought but seems like a nice idea

I mentioned this in the chatbox but I just wanna say it here so it's on record. As cool as this sounds you're basically making a subscription service for games that the forum gets all of the profit from and basically sidesteps ouya on sales. Which is something they do not want at all. So I'm not sure how this would work out in the long run. And to make a code system of the sites own would be a lot of work since you can't make single unlock codes or a special apk since those could be easily shared. So someone would have to do a lot of work and the developers would have to add that system to their apks. And like if Ouya does have a problem with this they could do something as easily as not allowing the apks to be approved or something idk.
I'm tipsy so bare with me....
Here's an idea that's slightly based off Moonlight's. Paying for anything pisses people off and while you'll make more people upset than happy, in any which direction you take it. Some ideas are better than others. So if we're going to implement anything of any kind.
We go ahead and perfect the forum subscription model for regular users(with minor alterations of course) as in ranks and crap. One of the perks is to see a exclusive forum that enables the paid users to see deals brought on by developers. These deals would be percentage discounts on total price of their game, early access to content, and a bunch of other stuff like design sketches during development. The trick is getting the developers to go along with this and that's where you come in Eddie.
When a developer signs on and agrees that he'll post exclusive material for these privileged members, you can go ahead and give these guys their own perks such as...
1. Give them a discount on the overall price to display their ads. You on the other hand have to increase the time they're forced into paying. So instead of paying for the regular time of their ads like a month for example. They have to pay less for longer(with a overall higher profit margin as this a business). More money on both sides as the developers would get more profits and publicity(which adds to their total revenue).
2. If all works out, then the few areas of ads that we will have will fill up. The income would be stable, but adding more sub-forums for future developers who missed out on the bigger publicized spaces would further increase profit on both ends like in number one. These people would pay a lot less considering how obscure some of the sub-forums can be. Just make the entire idea on a smaller scale and you're okay.
THE PROBLEM IS GETTING THE DEVELOPERS ON THIS IDEA. WITHOUT THEM THEN THIS ENTIRE IDEA FALLS APART SO LET'S MAKE SURE TO COVER OUR BASES FIRST AND SEE IF THERE'S INTEREST. LIST OF DEVELOPERS WHO'VE SIGNED ON...

- PolygonGaming(maker of Chess)

Show support for OUYAForum by becoming a Supporter.
Another option is :
Why not talk to the ouya inc, maybe the support the forum. I mean its maybe the biggest ouya community including normal user, future owner and developer. And i think if you find the right words ouya inc will give some money for server upkeep.

Companies like OUYA prefer to have unofficial forums. It's like free help LOL.
I don't think it should be a problem. I am in contact with just about all the developers on OUYA, and I'm sure the majority of them would love a bit of free advertising, which is what putting a game on sale is.

If there must be a subscription service, I think that exclusive content and deals from developers is the way to go. Not only will subscribers get something worthwhile from their money, and it won't require taking already existing functions away from free users keeping them happy, it will be a massive help for developers to gain awareness about their games and build rep via giving away free things or price reductions.
Developers could also post exclusive video content about their WIP's or screenshots for a little while, which I think is a cool idea.
I would be happy to support this idea, yeah. I already have some content of my game sitting on my laptop waiting to be showcased at some point.
