OK guys, so I'm debating on whether or not I should make some sort of OUYAForum Supporter usergroup on these forums. It would be a paid membership (perhaps as little as $1.99 - $4.99/month). In return for your support, you will get several cool upgrades, such as animated avatars, more advanced signatures, more avatar options (larger/animated), custom user titles, access to a private forum (not sure for what yet), larger inboxes, a special color username, etc. I'm also considering limiting some of the regular user accounts a bit more (for exampled reducing inbox size, increasing PM throttle limit, etc). I don't expect anyone will be thrilled with this, but, we do need to pay for server costs and this is one option.
I am just trying to gage what the interest in this would be, and figure out if anyone has any suggestions for what upgraded members would get/have access to.
Let's hear your ideas!

I pay/donate to several forums I'm a member of, they all offer similar things to what your suggesting.
Usually they also remove the adverts for the paying members too.
I couldn't be pestered with monthly renewals tho and I wouldn't set up a recurring paypal payment.
I pay annually or not at all on them.
But not a bad idea tho....

Seems like a good idea, but I'd suggest making a option for a one time fee sort of thing. Pay $40(or something) and you won't have to pay anymore compared to a user who's paying $5 a month. It will save a little cash on both sides.Originally Posted by Eddie K

I think it's a good idea. Everything but the larger avatars that is. Giving them animated ones would be great but the huge ones would be a bit of an eyesore to me. Also would have to regulate signature pic size too. I'm also on board for the one-time fee idea. You could have different tiers (silver, gold, platinum) at different price points with different perks to each.
Just my thoughts.
Spread out the rewards per tier. Lets say that Silver gets a signature pic, slightly higher visitor/private message cap and the "Silver Member" title. Gold gets an animated avatar, signature pic, higher message cap than silver, one extra point of reputation power and the "Gold Member" title. Platinum could have all that, another reputation point, the highest message cap and also can have the ads disabled. Silver and Gold would be good candidates for the one-time fee pay model, whereas the Platinum would be good for a monthly subscription seeing as how with the ads disabled that cuts into revenue. I've also seen where some places do the "Lifetime Member" thing for a very large fee that includes a mix of perks.
Could also change the names from "silver" and "gold" to something fun, I was just using those good 'ol stand-bys as examples.
