I don't consider myself necessarily good but I breezed through the first 6 tracks. Had to replay tracks 7-9 several times to get 1st, tracks 10-12 I had to replay several times just to take 3rd. Currently on track 13. So I think the difficulty is progressing nicely. Though I'm confident I'll get through all 18 tracks quickly enough, so if not a cups or tourney mode, I wouldn't mind seeing a hard mode added.

I played Qwak on my iPhone but I'll be honest, I didn't pay for it, I picked it up on a free promotion day and thought it was way too busy with too many pickups flying all over the screen. Considering I spent no cash on the title, I quickly dismissed it. Should you decide to port it to Ouya, I'll definitely give it another look. I do love platformers and the game is cute enough that my wife might actually play if it has coop.

Is it possible to talk you into putting in a 4 player mode? Or an online mode? I love the game as it is but those features would be killer!

I don't know how's the iphone version is, but the original Amiga game still ranks to me as the best "cute'em up" platform game I ever played. IMO, its better than Bubble Bobble, Parasol Stars, Snow Bros or any other game of its kind.

And still regarding Retro Racing's difficulty:

I also know if the game was harder, many people would complain and get frustrated (Kids those days, tsc ) . So that's why I think the difficulty should stay as it is, but maybe a "very hard" mode for oldschoolers like me would be enough to make everyone happy

Well that was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be...
I just finished the Retro Racing Booya! review!

I just got 3 stars on every track.

Track 15 is the one that gave me more trouble. There's one with just 6 cars instead of 8 which was kinda hard too.

Now waiting for the 4 players mode, hehe

Would it be possible to get the option to turn off items? Also would it be possible to have an editor with the game to do new tracks ourselfs? Or maybe there isn't such a editor that u use? Also do the cars break? If so option to turn that on / off? And a item that repairs the car? And maybe a HUD display about the "health" of u're car. Also I'd love a time trial mode (fastest lap and global leaderboards and local).

Just wanted to thank you all for your suggestions and requests!

Unlikely that I'll be making any *big* changes to the game, any time soon. I can certainly see a 4 player mode working well on OUYA; but it's the kind of thing I'd want to build in to a game from day 1, rather than retro-fit it (which is always a bit of a pain).

I have a few other bits and bobs I need to attend to, but will probably have a quick look at Qwak, and possibiliy of bringing it to OUYA.

Also, have been wanting to do a sequel (or two) to Retro Racing for some time now, if that comes to OUYA, it will definintely be getting the 4 player treatment! Either as 4 way split-screen, or, all cars on same screen, but when you get left behind, you get bumped back in to the action.

I'm also curious about how BETA works on OUYA. I noticed some games are released in the BETA stage of development, and benefit from early user feedback. Is that a good idea do you think?

Anyhow, hope I covered most points raised, feel free to prompt me if I missed anything.

    Cheers,
    Jamie

Yeah 4 player mode in Part 2 would be a must.

also in part 2 when you beat the game you should be able to unlock a new Car, and if you 3 star every level you unlock a gold car or something that has full stats. Everyone loves Unlocks, rewards for playing

I have not beat retro racing yet (Half Way Through), but I heard when you beat it you don't get any unlocks or anything .

It's a double edged sword, really. On one hand you have the ability to reach to a broader audience to test out your game if you decide to post a beta on the store. The problem is with this is that the store doesn't give feedback, and only thumbs-up. People can't even type reviews and I doubt they'd join our forum just to say "I like/dislike this"(no offense of course).

On the other hand if you decide to keep it controlled anywhere like on here for example. You're aiming for much smaller amount of fish in the barrel but in turn will give you legitimacy in their feedback because who are we kidding? We're awesome and universally trusted across the world wide web. I'm going to play your game here soon for the first time and will give feedback on the demo, so feel free to feel honored. Everybody else is.

On a serious note. Both outcomes are going to scare people away as BETA games and applications usually turn people away from whatever end result it will become. It's completely possible for them to say that "this is so bad that there's no way it can be fixed" and won't even glance at the finished product.

    Re: Retro Racing - MrQwak

Maybe they'll add a private beta option for developers who don't want their games visible on the store during beta. Let the developers give out keys to users instead so they are more likely to get real feedback and not risk getting bad opinions for an unfinished game.
