what we really need is a port of mame4droid reloaded - I have sideloaded it and it does work, but no two player - and you have to move your roms from external drive to internal drive which is okay but i would like to use the external drive with the full 0.139 mame set i have on it.

Now, I have used both MAME4Droid and MAME Reloaded on here with hardly any issues. I like Reloaded a lot better. I do agree that one needs to be used for Ouya, that is more controller friendly and optimized to work with it better. With a complete 1.39 rom set, I've run into very few games that do not work (and actually don't say they are broken.) I have not tried multiplayer, though. From what I'm reading, it doesn't work.

I've got everything stored on a 64 Usb drive (formatted to FAT32) and haven't had any trouble with the reading of the ROMs from the external source. My biggest complaint is that you are locked into a directory structure that forces you to use a 'mame4all' or 'mame4droid' \ roms file directory, instead of just pointing them to where you want them to be.

@plutox: if you copy the "mame4droid reloaded" folder that was installed onto the Ouya internal memory and move it to any external hdd, it should work. Just put your ROMs into the rom folder once everything is moved over (you will have to tell the app where this directory is)

According to http://www.mamedvds.com/info_files/info_mame4all.asp Mame4All is being based on a very old version of MAME. 0.34, or so. This means you need a different set of ROMs.

If someone will tell me where to send this guy a unit, I'll buy him one. That's how much I want an optimized for Ouya MAME port. I simply MUST have multiplayer action!!

I find it a little alarming that the people at Ouya wouldn't work with this guy if all he wanted was a console given the amount of people waiting on this port.

Why should we be the ones fitting the bill for this? Surely it's in their best interest to get something done when it's going to practically cost them nothing, and it would make a lot of their fans/backers very happy?

Is this a trick question? It's eminently reasonable to expect the people who want to use MAME be the ones to foot the bill.

Note that MAME (and the various ports, including MAME4Droid) are open source, so another option is for a different developer to add Ouya support. I was thinking that I might take a look at doing so myself and then contributing the changes back to the maintainer.

Are you capable of doing any porting, I would support that.
