Emulators aren't an issue since you can remap to whatever you want. It's the actual Ouya apps that for some reason don't offer button remapping causing issues if you use some non-Ouya controllers.
I can confirm that the Logitech F310 works perfectly with correct mappingthe dead zone on the analogs are huge though, but I don't care since I got it for games that are better played with the dpad.
A followup to my own question earlier for anyone else that's curious:
After enjoying the F310 I decided to give the F710 a try. Both work extremely well as total Ouya controller replacements, the only game I've tried that didn't work with them was Shadowgun. It's worth noting that both controllers have a larger deadzone on the analogs than I would like, so I wouldn't recommend them for a FPS or racing game, but is much, much better than the Ouya controller for games that use the digital pad and for emulators. Also, the controllers have the ability to swap controls from the digital pad and left analog, which is handy in some games that force you to use analog when it's unnecessary, like walking around in Saturday Morning RPG. I noticed at the beginning of the thread it states that the F710 does not work with XBMC. I do not have the Ouya XBMC loaded, but I do have the most recent Kodi sideloaded and both controllers work perfectly on them.
Between the two, I'd recommend spending the extra coin on the wireless controller. The controls themselves are identical between the two pads, but the F310 feels kind of cheap, where as the F710 is built of much better materials, and the first thing you think of when holding it is "Damn, this is a nice controller!" There's no real difference in the buttons and dpad though if you're on a budget.

Mayflash N64 adapter- analog stick has problems. Makes games unplayable.
Is there a way to turn off (to save battery) a PS3 controller while the Ouya is still on? If I watch a movie for a few hours, the battery is just slowly dying the whole time while it isn't even being used.
I used an iBuffalo Super Famicom controller today. http://www.amazon.com/Buffalo-Classi...=ibuffal+osnes
It has great reviews and it's inexpensive, but I didn't like it. Everything worked fine. All buttons registered and I felt no lag. The D-pad is the reason I'm returning it. The edges of the D-Pad are too sharp. I had no problems pulling off moves in Super Street Fighter II or platforming in Super Mario World. The D-pad works, it's just not comfortable.
Saturn to USB converter works......kind of, Navigating menus is abit hard (Haven't found how to go back). Emu wise MAME and Neo.emu had troubles with mapping (Left on the d-pad cannot be set in neo.emu)
Tried it with MD.emu and it pretty much worked flawlessly (Which is strange, arent Neo.Geo and MD.emu from the same people?), Haven't tried it with anything else yet (Most of my stuff is on HDD and i need a hub so i can use both at the same time)
Had this Logitech Dual Action lying around my house and gave it a try. Works as a complete Ouya replacement. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003PO...ozL&ref=plSrch
