LIST: Controllers That Work With OUYA

    Hello friends and OUYA gamers!

I'll be putting together a compiled list of all Working / Semi-Working / Wishlists for all Controller Types that interact with the OUYA.

Any submissions here for WORKING controllers (meaning they can be paired, control the OUYA UI AND work in a variety of games/apps) must be accompanied with a "How-To" explanation and/or a Hyperlink to the explanation. That will help any current users perform the tasks necessary to set up the controller in question. This also goes for SEMI-WORKING controllers (meaning they interact with the OUYA UI but have limitations and/or won't work in games AND Vice Versa).

Any submissions here for WISHLISTS are simply that, controllers that you want to see working on the OUYA at some point.

Any NON-WORKING controllers will be added to a list of "NON-WORKING" peripherals that someday might work.

I will do my best to keep this thread updated on a weekly basis, with your help we can maximize the potential of input devices for the OUYA!

    Thanks Everyone!
    Silent Rob

    WORKING CONTROLLERS

Description: These controller types are confirmed to work both in OUYA's UI as well as in games and applications. There might still be limitations to them (as in they don't have touchpads or other features) but will generally work throughout the Ouya Console.

OUYA Controller - (Genuine OUYA Product) WL/BT •

    EMU, OUYA, GAME

    Type: OUYA Genuine Wireless Controller.

How-To Guide: Very Simple... Just Pair it to the OUYA via the "U" button near the bottom of the controller by holding it down. A graphical UI will guide you through this process automatically if no other controllers are paired already.

    Wireless PS3 Dualshock 3 Controller - (Confirmed - James Andrew Coote) WL/BT •

Type: Genuine Playstation 3 Wireless Controller.

    Logitech F710 Wireless PC Controller - (Confirmed 6/28/2013 - Jeremy Reilloc) WL/USB •

    EMU, OUYA, GAME

Type: Logitech XInput/DirectInput Wireless USB Controller.

How-To Guide: Plug in the USB dongle that comes with the controller and pair the controller to it.

*NOTE: A few very unique things to note about this controller.

    1) The controller has a button in the middle that works JUST LIKE the OUYA Home Button on the official controller! This means things like opening up menu in games that use that button or double tapping to exit work with this controller.

    2)
It seems to have slight issues on certain games. Essentially the buttons are mapped differently than the native controller, something easy to get used to, and in Shadowrun I could not reload, although everything else worked in all other games I've tried.

    3) Finally, it only works in XInput mode.

    SEMI-WORKING CONTROLLERS

Description: These controller types work for certain aspects of the Ouya console, but not all. Some may play well in emulators but can't operate the Ouya UI, others will do the opposite. Some features will not be available using some of these controllers, as it all depends on what your use for them is. Some of these will be 'application dependent', meaning you can use them if the application/game supports them. I will do my best to provide information that will tell you where and how they will work.

    Wireless Xbox 360 Controller - (W/Generic OR Authentic USB Receiver) - (Confirmed 7/2/2013 - Silent Rob) WL/USB Receiver •

    EMU, OUYA, GAME

Type: Genuine Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Controller w/Generic OR Authentic USB Wireless Receiver.

How-To Guide: Just plug the USB Generic Receiver into the back of the OUYA. Then connect the controller to the receiver via the small connection button on the controller and the receiver itself.

*NOTE: When you attach the Wireless Receiver via USB to the OUYA it takes up 4 controller spots automatically. Even though you haven't connected the actual controller to the receiver yet. I believe this is just the function of the receiver making space for all controllers that can eventually be connected to it. Some Games/Emulators Need the Buttons to be "Mapped", creating an extra step. Both Generic & Authentic Receivers will work the same way.

Exactly derty, whatever people have tested themselves and either worked/didn't work let us know! AND... how you did it, did you run into problems pairing, is there lag... etc. The more info we get into this, the more options and ease of use we can get from the Ouya! Thanks to whoever Stickied this too, that was a pleasant and very helpful surprise!

I'll also update the thread tonight with anything we get today.

When you say "Wired" for the PS3 Genuine controller, do you mean a fully-wired controller OR using the charging cable to hook up a "wireless" one? Just clarifying this. Thanks for your submissions!

Thanks mate, just one other thing, with the genuine controller, while it's wired... does it turn off BT like the generic one does?

My real OUYA controllers stop working so I am guessing BT is turned off. I can confirm later, but I believe I've read that during the pairing process for the PS3 controller that BT will turn off until you disconnect the cable and wirelessly connect after cycling the OUYA's power.

I read about that too, that when you hook up "any" usb controller, regardless of it naturally being wireless to begin with, will turn off the BT for some reason. I have hopes they'll figure this out in a future firmware update.

I sent Ouya support an email about some things I want to know about regarding controller support. Hopefully i'll hear back from them within a week... hopefully BEFORE the next firmware update. :-D

Thanks for the help mate, this helps us out a lot seeing as PS3 generics and because the genuine ones are pretty desirable because they work pretty well with Ouya, there's a misconception that the generics will too. (unlike my xbox thingies over here... )

Updated to include Nintendo Wiimotes and their Classic Controller.
