Dood, I was one of the first 3000 who backed the OUYA. YES I have one! The fact that I backed so early is reason enough for myself to feel so emotionally invested in this thing. I want OUYA succeed. As corny as it may sound, I really do "believe". Every other day I'm reading bad reviews based on outdated firmware, hardware issues that have already mostly been resolved or don't exist altogether, ignorant ass heads claiming that tablets and phones are better alternatives, people bitching about shipping (which in my opinion is a valid reason to complain about) etc, etc. As an early backer and a sorta investor to this thing it is disheartening to see the constant negativity gravitating towards something that has the potential to be something truly great.
I backed to, not first 3,000 I was around 11,000.
We are complete opposites, I am a consumer and hate getting screwed. I didn't get screwed by ouya but I have been kinda turned off by all the problems other consumers have had. I feel sorry for the consumers and feel like consumers should stick together. Ouya has screwed a bunch of people already.
Funny, I didn't feel a thing!
But back to seriousness, if your experience with the Ouya has been positive, then why let the negativity bother you? Is mine perfect? No, but I didn't expect for it to be. I had me some realistic expectations and the Ouya met, and funny enough, exceeded most of them. When people have legitimate problems I try to link them to the answers or answer myself so that perhaps they will enjoy their experience as much as I do. The negativity is really only flowing from a few individuals on here, always whining about the same thing like a broken record, thus they are easy to ignore and shouldn't get you down. The rest of the internet hate directed at Ouya is as others have mentioned, not relevent, and in my mind only piled on so high because it's 'cool' to hate on it.
The only conversations one should find in a drama queens post is blank space and the sound of crickets chirping.
If user experience sucks and Ouya does not improve the UI beyond enthusiasts acceptance, plus no external app option real soon, Ouya will not be laughing.
You seem to be complaining that you have to buy into games to get the full experience. That's kinda the point. Agree with the sideloading thing, it's a bit irritating. The UI on mine works brilliantly post update, I've had no problems.
We got our OUYA yesterday, so our releases will be a while off.

The system has more than 100 games, and at least 10 games that are really good.
How many games did X360 or PS3 had at retail week?
This is ridiculous.
