The problem with the Google Play store is that it relies on a bunch of auxiliary apps to do things like authenticating accounts and verifying purchases. It would appear the Amazon app store does that all in one package, hence why it works, while with Google Play, you have to get all those other apps working together in harmony. That's something afaik, no one has yet really managed
