I have to agree with this. Some of my favorite things to is snuggle up in my jammies, play a little Nintendo 64, and surf on my Ipod when I have a urge to check my emails while drinking (Folgers) black silk coffee....black. What was I talking about? Oh yeah!

The point I want to make is that some things need to be separate forever.

Is it? I think those people might be better served by a better tablet paired with a better bluetooth controller. Or they'd be better served with a better tablet and a $99 OUYA. The most interesting thing about this is probably the remote. A good bluetooth remote for OUYA with a QWERTY on the back would be killer. Also of note, the theoretical benefit of only having to only buy games once for both your console and tablet is negated by the fact that you lose physical controls in tablet mode. I just can't see how saving a hundred bucks (compared to a Nexus 7 plus an OUYA) is worth the trouble.

If my guess is correct and it is running a RK3188 soc, then it is faster than a Nexus 7 or Ouya by about 30%.

Edit: I have confirmed it does have a RK3188 soc, it also has dual cameras , BT 4.0 and importantly a Micro sd slot.

It makes sense to me, not many people use a 7" tablet when they are at home, its a size you use out and about and carry due to its portability. So coming home and docking the tablet to play games, is no more of an inconvenience than going over and pressing the on button on the Ouya.

As its $150 more than an Ouya, it will only appeal to those that are swayed by having a 7" tablet. Perhaps it would sway those in the market for a 7" tablet by having the benefit of being able to be used as a android game console. That might be a better way of looking at its target market.

Okay, that's a bit more interesting then. I guess it all depends on when it comes out and how many people are in the market for both a microconsole and a tablet. This market is still in it's infancy, and the technology is evolving so rapidly that it's hard to predict anything.

I just hope that this won't force everybody into annual updates. As nice as a constant stream of new hardware sounds, it would not be good for consumers overall.

This is some interesting news, even though I doubt it'll be a success at all.
What I think will happen is that it will neither succeed as a tablet, nor a gaming-console, mainly because they try to stretch the focus too much.

It sure does seem like everyone want in on the "android mini-console" war these days, huh?

I don't get it. It's an all-in-one Android tablet... Just like any other Android tablet? What's so special about this? What does it have to bring to the table that's new? What's unique? I don't see anything amazing in it.

Media Edition is $200, Gaming is $249 and adds controller.
The price isn't that convenient either. I just bought me a Nexus 7, another Android tablet, for a slightly similar price and it can easily blow that out of the water. I'm seeing a lot of new devices, but all of them are too expensive, especially for what they want to bring. They're not planning their strategies very well.

OUYA still has my heart when it comes to gaming.... For now.

Well.. The Media edition comes with a DOCK and Media Remote (with keyboard on back of it).. The Game Edition comes with the Remote/Dock and a controller.. So really, the pricing isn't that bad.. It's not just a tablet... We don't have word on which Quad-core processor it is yet.. but the specs aren't horrible either.. So for $200 you are getting more then you do with a Nexus.. since it has the HDMI dock and Media remote..
