I like this new chat, I really do...in theory. The features it has are very useful, the big problem (and I believe a deal breaking problem) is the lag. It can well over a minute from hitting enter until the message actually appears. I think we may need to switch back until we can find a better alternative. What say everyone else?

After talking to the boys about it, I have to agree. The lag is was really kills it, and not only that. When they finally do appear it's all jumbled up in order. Me and Bagheadinc can search for alternatives.

As you guys already said, it seems to lag quite a bit.
And besides from that, I don't like the fact that every users isn't in one single chat-room by default.

In my (humble) opinion, everyone should be put into one chat-room whenever they're online. And then, whenever you want to jump to a new chat-room, you can do so freely.
But right now, all the chat-rooms are just empty...

I'm just glad we tried this chat out. It never hurts to try, even if it ended in utter failure. Some of the features including the private chat and the more appealing interface are to die for but it's not worth it if you can't chat in a chatbox. I private messaged Bagheadinc and once he gets back to me; we can discuss some chatbox options.

chat rooms wil slow down the server for people actually using the forums and will not scale once the forum becomes large. the chat should be removed all together, imo.

IRC would be great, but we've discussed this with Eddie on a couple occasions and I don't think it will be happening.

Okay, yes it would be nice if we had a IRC but like Bagheadinc said. It will not be done. Same with XAT.

EDIT* I want people to search for new chatbox options here. I was thinking AJAX when the developer updates it this month.

This chat sucks ass. No one is ever on the chat room thingy... And the other one was pretty straight-forward, you just typed the message and that's it. Also, this chat doesn't seem to "record" messages. On the other chat someone could make a comment and one day later it was still there. This one erases that completely. I don't like it...
