So animated avatars are NOT working. Can you please turn them on for at least some user groups?

If they are already turned on for the user groups, please make sure that ImageMagik is used for the image processor and not GD. GD removes animations when the images are resized, where as imagemagik does not. This can be changed in the forum settings.
