Oh, come on! You don't buy any of the bunk in the article do you?
I'm using a rooted S Galaxy TAB getting a WiFi connection from a rooted S Galaxy Nexus to read and respond to this.

The Nexus is using Liquid Smooth BETA roms, the Tab is using stock roms.

I have never pirated a single app, piracy doesn't require rooting!

I have never been so stupid as to blindly installed an app without fully reading the permissions and taking the time to think about why they may need certain ones.

And I have never gone to a suspect app store to get something that was to good to be true.

I have installed dozen of roms from developers who work very hard to make sure things work smoothly.

As for FCC violations, name a single electronic device in your home or office that can't be made to violent FCC regs. Just pull the cover off your desktop computer and you will be in violation.

This article is nothing more than scare mongering without any basis of fact.

I would also like to ask the author if he had ever heard of the line of smart phones and tablet from a company called GOOGLE!

The Nexus line of devices are proof that you have nothing to fear but fear itself :O
And the author did his job, he got you to respond!
