New OUYA Update Solves the Overheating Issue

Some users have been experiencing overheating issues with their OUYA. Others have had their consoles get extremely hot.

I have been informed by OUYA that they have just pushed an update that has solved the overheating issue.

My own became quite hot, but it seems to be cooling right by itself.

What does "extremely" hot mean? 100ºC?

Ever light a candle and for whatever reason, decide to just keep putting lit matches against it? Kinda like that. I am extremely excited and confused about this update. One, I never knew there was a overheating problem, just poor placement by users. Two..... Well that's kind of it.

I have mine sitting on a spiral shaped coaster so the air vent can't be blocked. I was thinking of making a small base with a PC fan to help with airflow, possibly USB powered.

It is better to have gamed and lost, than to never game at all!

Screw that, pull it from the inside power source and run it to external contacts that power the fan base by touch. No cables needed

My console has been completely busted for two days, would have been cool if this fixed my problem before it escalated.

Should do what I have done, just put it on an open flat surface, my Apple TV the Ouya has replaced is perfect for it.

They responded to my help ticket relaying the information about the update as well. I'm currently downloading it as we speak. It seems fairly big, I wonder what else it addresses. I knew I wasn't crazy when the console was shooting up to extreme temperatures after only an hour of playing. They must have found something wrong to issue an update. I ended up placing the console on its side so the fan would blow it out further since I'm not sure if that half inch gap underneath really helps circulate the air as good as it should.
