The Ouya Herald #3 - The games - First impressions.

In this column I have confined myself in the main to those games in regard to which I thought it possible to say something positive and constructive, since merely negative criticism seemed out of place.

Polarity - This game was inspired by Portal. In a way it shoots itself in the foot by looking so similar because it invites the comparison, and Portal is a tough act to follow, but the game IS enjoyable in its own right.

No breaks valet - When Kellee Santiago was asked what her favorite game on Ouya was, she said, "No breaks valet because it makes me giggle." And yes, it's funny by itself, but I suggest getting your mom to play it.

The little crane that could - This game is very simple looking with a simple, yet great concept. It could probably be executed better, but it's pretty good even now. The controls are awkward, but they are supposed to be to kind of add to the challenge. I'd prefer if the challenge came from the assignments rather than purposely rough mechanics, but with a little finesse it's a lot of fun.

Emulators - Hands down the best part of the system right now. This should keep us entertained until they bring out the big guns.

So far, with the possible exception of FFIII, none of the Ouya games out right now would really get higher than 2 stars on the Ouya Herald rating system but there are plenty of distractions to keep us entertained until the heavy hitters start rolling around.
