Hopefully they aren't just talking about the whole "spilled glue making the joysticks not move smoothly" issue or the buttons getting stuck under the faceplate if you push them all the way down. It's rather disturbing that they are keeping developers completely in the dark about this issue, and aren't responding about it at all on the developer forums where a lot more than a few happy customers is at stake.

So this basically states that it's a hardware issue both unofficial and officially. There will be a fix no doubt (like you said). Guess those backers who waited months for their OUYA's will have to ship out their controllers for replacements. Either that or they'll ship more controllers as separate shipments to the old customers, while allowing the old customers to keep their faulty ones. Which means that takes a small amount of money out of their $15 million. It's one thing to run a company but another to actually have to opportunity to get one started and then fuck it up continuously. Way to go guys.

I bet the executives at GameStick are laughing their asses off right now...

Those were fixed in the past. They are indeed talking about the current (or ex) problem at hand. See this...

Scratch that. I have no idea to navigate twitter so I'm not sure my first "edit" is true or not. Just wait until somebody who actually knows something says something to take anything seriously.

Not sure what counts as recent...I just got my ouya today. Within 30 seconds of having it out of the box I had a button stick under the face plate. Sideloaded the demo app in the official forum thread about this issue and gave it a try...and I'm getting the funky analog sticks too. Which explains why the games I've tried that use them so far felt horrible.

Off topic but I'm really disappointed in the WiFi on the Ouya as well. Sitting right next to my living room PC, Wii and TV all of which have great WiFi connections with almost full signal - the Ouya shows almost no signal "Fair" and refused to connect to my AP. I eventually got it to connect by going into the android menus and just letting it sit on the WiFI page for half an hour. But it's a spotty connection that's gotten dropped a few times and downloading games is agonizing - 20Meg game took over an hour to download. That may be Ouya's servers though as the Browser seems to load pages quickly....

Could be radio interference too or too many wifi toys clogging the same frequency. I had a similar issue with my X-Box 360 months ago. PS3 worked fine. Wii worked fine. Mobile devices. Fine.

Traced it down to the wireless audio in my ceiling fan of all things.

OUYA's servers are pretty slow. Or rather.. AWS is throttled for some reason. I've seen this issue with other vendors utilizing them for cloud storage before as well.

The post referred to in that tweet if from the official dev forum. They know about it. I imagine they're probably trying to figure out what the issue is before responding.

Does this just affect the left analog? Or is the right one affected the same way?

I received a Early Kickstarter Ouya today from eBay (will compare with Pre-Order when I get it) and it's not that big of an issue.

Yes you can feel the dead zones especially in first person shooters. It's not great but I personally think these little bugs are just part of Ouya's charm. Once you have the console in your hands you just pet it and forgive it for its early flaws!

EDIT: The touchpad is probably the thing I'm most concerned about, it's freaking useless! Anyone have scrolling issues?

Seems Ouya have now responded directly in the Official Dev thread on the dead zone issue: http://forums.ouya.tv/discussion/127...f-the-world/p2

    Here's the response:

"Chad Posts: 2 Member, Administrator, Team OUYA

Thanks for helping us bring improvements to OUYA! The controller issues have been resolved, and recent shipments include new updated versions. Any problematic controllers have been and will continue to be replaced with new versions at the players' request by writing us at support@ouya.tv. Thanks again for your support!"

I wonder how much this is going to cost Ouya, I guess it depends on how many return their controllers.

Not a lot I imagine. People are finally getting their OUYA's and logically don't want to give them up. Not everybody has a PS3 or XBox360 controller for a replacement so shipping the controllers back is a no go.
