Asking if "Homebrew is possible" on the Ouya is like asking "Is Driving possible in my car?"

Did you not watch the kickstarter video or listen to anything said at all ever about the Ouya???

No wonder there are so many negative posts around the net about the Ouya, if people on this forum have so little clue I can't imagine what the general public think it is. I can just see the support questions now,
"I bought this Ouya thing, but it won't blend my fruit at all. It's rubbish"

That's because you're doing it wrong!

It's possible to make your own homebrew games on PC and mobile (and has been for years), but OUYA now lets you do that for console/TV as well

What do you consider homebrew? From my reading it's clear that a lot of the games in the OUYA market are basic games from first time developers. Not saying there is anything wrong with that, everyone needs a starting place. I am also not saying there are great looking fun games from experienced developers. My point is that to me a big portion of games in the market are homebrew and of course you can build a game and play and share it without being in the OUYA Market. It's still a APK and just needs to be sideloaded.

Lol I started laughing when I read this xD. It's very true. I know what the system is capable of but I'm just sayin will anybody feel the need to create it just so all the emulators and roms r much more organized and u don't hav to switch around to other apps to game when all r games r in 1 app. It would b much more simplified but ya man all u gotta do is press the power button and it transforms into a jelly like substance that ur able to wash ur car with. It's rather quite good lol

Yes it is a zip file. I just rename the file to Whatever.zip and windows will open it.

Yes. You'd be surprised how many file formats are like that. .docx is another one.

Yep. Most likely it's ZIP-based because Java JARs are the same way, and Android is Java-based.

Also, I think APPs on Mac are basically just folders (not even zipped). On Windows, from Unity when I export an APP Windows thinks it's just a folder and will even let me browse it. But on Mac, it's interpreted as an executable.

In my opinion, homebrew = indie.

Yeah I always thought home brew and indie was one and the same.
