So let's say they now make 20% of 60k units a week. That means 12k units a week is the maximum capacity? 50k a month? GameStick is supposed to have 200k pre-orders. If OUYA has sth similar to this for retail... then September it is.
OUYA: Shippin' Update
Update #25
Hey Everyone,
Before we jump into this week’s update, I want to respond to a common question we’ve heard a lot since last Friday’s post.
The question, as a lot of you have asked -- most recently by ‘Chris Kraft’ and ‘jeremy s’ on our Kickstarter page, is:
“Will early backers receive their consoles before OUYA becomes available in retail?”
The answer is Yes -- our commitment to early backers from the beginning was, if you support us and believe in our idea, we will support you.
Nothing has changed since we made that promise. We will remain focused on delivering OUYA to you, and we will continue to update you every step of the way until every early backer unit has shipped. Period.
Chris and Jeremy -- hopefully that helps to answer your question and thanks for continuing to support us as we build the OUYA vision into a reality.
As for this week’s progress...
- We successfully eclipsed 50 percent of units shipped and remain ahead of schedule to complete all shipments by the end of May
- This completed our first production run, and now our tools are all operating as we intended to reach our weekly max capacity
- Limited edition consoles began rolling off production lines
International shipments were slowed slightly due to an issue identified with the power adapter (note: the issue was caught prior to production and has since been resolved -- these are expected to significantly increase next week as a result).
Here’s a look at the latest weekly numbers:
Thanks again for everyone’s ongoing support and keep the questions and feedback coming.
Have a great Cinco de Mayo everyone!
Julie

Not a bad update. Hopefully put an end to all the "I'll probably get mine after retail" posts
Still can't quite make out if any non-us orders have shipped though? I'm guessing not? Surprised that over 50% of backers lived in US though.

Kickstarter Ouya: Update #25
"We successfully eclipsed 50 percent of units shipped and remain ahead of schedule to complete all shipments by the end of May"
I had a support ticket in to them to get an ETA and I received my reply this afternoon, just a few hours before this update, with contradicting statements.
So yeah, they haven't "eclipsed" 50%, they've barely passed 30%!OUYA Support <devsupport@ouya.tv> Fri, May 3, 2013 at 2:31 PM

Hi Fomdoo,
While backer number alone does not determine shipping order it does play a large factor in addition to location and items ordered etc. We have opted to use a percentage of the amount shipped as opposed to individualized details for this very reason as it becomes difficult to pinpoint which individual units will be shipping and at what time. The good news is we have seen a huge ramp up in shipping fulfillment and are actually ahead of schedule with about 32% of the orders shipped. We are quietly pushing for 50% by next week.
Please also keep in mind when launching a global product there may be changes to the early distribution plan - this type of thing has happened with major console launches in the form of release date delays and in OUYA's case, truly only results in you receiving a better product as we are analyzing and making adjustments to firmware etc. According to Julie herself, here's the official take:
"As you might imagine, the path from production line, to shipping facility, to your front door isn’t always a straight line. We’re learning more and improving production daily -- we’ve already made some tweaks that you will benefit from -- we actually changed a partner this week so we could shave days off the total shipping timeline..."
We do apologize for any inconveniences this may cause for you. Rest assured that we are working very hard to get it to you as quickly as possible and I am confident that as with all good things, the wait will be well worth it! Thanks for being the 3##th believer!
Best,
- Chris

Retail launches do not work that way. There are contracts saying "50000 units at warehouse X by date Y otherwise massive fine". If there aren't 50000 units at warehouse X by date Y then you're hit with massive fines and no one will want to work with you. Businesses don't care about promises, they care about actual results.

theres nothing you can do, if you think that they are lying other then asking for a refund, wish they were more clear on whats happening, but they have to protect there product and when things are not going as planned, the last thing you want is having it posted all over the internet.
