OUYA & Valve Exclusive Partnership - RUMOR

UPDATE: This appears to be a joke - please see: http://ouyaforum.com/showthread.php?...ll=1#post20442

Just thought I'd share this. I have no clue how valid it is

    Donald Conrad just tweeted this:
Rumor: Valve and Ouya to unveil exclusive partnership at #ReinerCon. @Andrew_Reiner refuses to confirm.
And then I asked for more details:
    And the response
@OUYA_Forum @Andrew_Reiner I can't reveal that! You will just have to wait for #ReinerCon
Andrew Reiner is an editor for Game Informer. Could be something interesting brewing or it could just be nothing.

    Uh?

What Valve could do with Ouya?

Wasn't there an important announcement soon or something? I hope it has something to do with this. Valve is a baws.

Edit: And when will this Reinacon thing occur? Where will it take place?

Don't know who Donald Conrad is, and not even Google knows what ReinerCon is.

I don't get what Valve would have to do with Ouya. If anything, I would've thought they'd be competitors, not allies. And as such, it would make more sense if Valve buys Ouya, assimilating the competition...or at least makes Ouya an offer they can't refuse.

Not necessarily. I mean, even though Valve owns their own distribution platform they still release on PS3 and Xbox 360 (and will likely continue to release on PS4 and NextBox even if they release their own Steambox). So it could be an exclusive game or something.

I highly doubt the reliability... but if it turns out to be true I'd be quite excited.

It could be that.... Though if Valve did buy OUYA then the whole point of creating a new market would be nullified.

And here I was just about to ask the community here what they thought of a more official relationship should be encouraged between Ouya and Valve.

I think most of us have already seen the examples of pc games being streamed from a pc to the ouya using splashtop, and heard word of Kainy(SP?) being developed to do the same thing. Also with Valve indicating devices that would stream games from Steam to the TV. They even have links on their website to stuff on the market that would supposedly do that now. If they can actually work something out I think it would be a big benefit for both of them.

It's a pretty big stretch to think that they'd have anything to do with each other. The only thing that would remotely make sense is if Valve was helping OUYA on the back-end with friends lists, messaging, chatting, achievements, etc. Or if Valve sees some value in partnering (or buying out) OUYA for the "good" level of their Steambox strategy.

For those that aren't familiar, Valve is both releasing themselves and partnering with oems later this year to release gaming hardware based on a "good, better, best" strategy. The "Good" tier being described as a "very low-cost streaming solution" that would be offered for around $99 (but hopefully free in the future). Kind of sounds like OUYA, doesn't it?

P.S. In case you were curious, you were Kickstarter backer number 5 for OUYA. Thank you for believing.

Sounds like bull to me can't see what valve would want with ouya as they have not released any android games so they don't have any games to put on it, they also have that steam box thing they are working on which by the way has no chance of succeeding.

Or maybe it's that. They know that the Steambox won't make enough cash, so they ditch the project and partner with OUYA.
