PR: Unlimited Adult Streaming App Set To Launch For Ouya

UPDATE: I reached out to Rebecca Bolen, who is the spokesperson for SugarDVD, and this is what she told me:
Thanks for reaching out! We are already live on Android, and we are able
to launch our app through web browsers. Our app isn't run through a
browser, but it can be launched through one in order to avoid any device
developers not approving. It's how we are available on iPad, even though
Apple doesn't allow adult apps in the marketplace.

Ouya is set to have a web browser (source:

so we will have no problem making our app available for Ouya users.

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Premiere adult streaming company SugarDVD has just announced that they are in development to release their unlimited porn app for Ouya. With this Kickstarter-funded console set to release on June 4th, SugarDVD is hoping to have their app available on Ouya the same week.

"Our Android app launched earlier last year and it’s been a huge hit among our customers," says spokesperson Rebecca Bolen, "so we’re excited to launch for Ouya.”

SugarDVD began as an adult DVD-by-mail business over ten years ago. Since then, SugarDVD has become the “Netflix of porn,” launching their multi-platform unlimited adult streaming apps. For $7.95/month, SugarDVD subscribers gain unlimited access to an ever expanding library of full-length, HD adult movies straight to their Roku, PS3, Xbox, and Wii U. The company made waves when they made their Netflix-style porn app available on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, but soon Ouya fans will be able to enjoy this unlimited adult streaming app. SugarDVD was the first adult company to make their content available for Wii U users. With this new Ouya app, the company is yet again coming up first in the market.

Streaming the app on any device is easier than ever. Users go to SugarDVD.com, log in, and a button pops up to allow them to begin streaming instantly. Inside the app, titles are sorted by categories like College, All-Girl, Amateur, and more, with a recently-updated search function available to help subscribers find the exact film they’re looking for. And unlike grainy clip sites, SugarDVD’s app offers HD, full-length adult movies, with no ads, discs, or downloads.

With almost 500 games in development for the Ouya, this console is looking to have a busy launch. While companies like Hulu and Netflix are setting up to have their apps available on Ouya, SugarDVD will be the first adult company to launch on this Android-based console. With Ouya only setting gamers back $99, compared to expensive PCs and other devices, this console may be the most cost effective way to satisfy all your adult needs.

It'll be interesting to see if this is accepted by the OUYA store, or if they decide to reject it.

Even if Ouya reject it they'll work round it.

They boast an Xbox360 "app" which amounts to "Open up internet explorer and type in the URL"

Edit: This app is the same.

As far as I can tell from the press release, it's a browser app, not a downloadable .apk that would be available in the store.

I followed up farther with Rebecca, asking if she thinks the app will be approved by OUYA. This was her response:

    Sure!

And there's a possibility, since we also host more mainstream content on
our apps as well as strictly adult content (like our Tea Time with Sugar
YouTube segments), but we are developing our app in a way that wouldn't
    require approval just in case.

    Thanks,
    Rebecca

And I asked her when it will be released:
We are aiming to have the app launch the same week at the Ouya console
itself. We'd tell you we'd launch it the day of, but we want to make sure
everything runs 100% smoothly like our other apps before officially
    rolling it out.

    Thanks,
    Rebecca

According to Julie Uhrman in a past interview with Engadget:

"It's similar to mobile: they'll submit their games, and we'll review for intellectual property infringement, and malware, and excessive pornography. But ultimately it's a quick review and you're in the storefront in one capacity or another."
Should be interesting to see how OUYA handles this once it is submitted for review.

I honestly don't know what to think about this. Does the OUYA have that safety feature foe kids?
