    Pre - Feb Preorders

    Hi All,

Im Just Wondering if anyone has heard anything about pre-orders made before Feb From ouya direct, They were supposed to be shipping before end of April that however seems highly unlikely now.

But there just hasnt been any updates since. its like they have forgotten about them. I Knew what i got myself into when i ordered im not to concerned about lead time but id just like some information as to whats happening.

I Tried asking Ouya Directly and this is what i got

    "Thanks, Conor!

We are now shipping Kickstarter orders (placed before Aug. 8). It looks like you ordered after that time- which means your OUYA should ship after those. We are currently expecting all of the Kickstarter pre orders to be shipped by mid-late May. We will be sure to send an email confirmation with tracking number once yours is on its way. In the meantime, you can follow recent developments at www.ouya.tv/blog. Thanks for believing!

    Best,

    - Chris
    OUYA"

Mostly Just Ignoring me asking about Pre Orders and talking about Kick Starter Orders Which Suggests that Backers may not be getting their before the retail ship of the Box so i wonder were that leaves website preorders.

    Thanks

I think you'll be unlikely to get your pre-order in April. At the moment, the most likely scenario is that you'll get yours on the day of retail launch (June 4th) or possibly a couple of days before. Alternatively, OUYA might decide to push back the retail launch date if they feel they can't get all the pre-orders out in time. Unfortunately, it really does seem that OUYA can't make them fast enough

Personally I feel that OUYA really doesn't want to commit to saying when pre-order will be shipped, or even when the console will be available to purchase in retail stores. The whole delay in the kickstarter shipments I think is making them think twice about announcing any firm dates.

I'm guessing that if pre-orders are not shipped prior to June 4th, there will be a pretty significant delay in the retail units as well. The shipping and manufacturing of the OUYA is obviously taking longer than they originally had hoped for. You really can't blame anyone for this. It's the first shipment OUYA has had to do, and I'm sure they ran into a few bumps in the road.

Don't worry though, you will still get it, and I'm pretty certain you will get it before they begin selling in retail.

They've send developer consoles before that. Sending them went smoothly I think?

I think it went pretty smoothly, but it took them a couple of weeks to get only 1200 consoles out. The scale that they're manufacturing and shipping at this point is much larger.

What is that based on? I have not seen one number come from Ouya other than "the graph". If they have shipped over 20% of the KS pledges I would have thought they would be publishing real numbers by now.

I cannot believe they have 12,000 units in the post without it showing up in some way on forums, youtube etc.

They produce much more but hold the Ouyas back for retail launch.

Last I checked 57,379 is more than 1200.

I'll quote myself on this one:

But I think the benefit of the doubt has to be given here. We asked how many consoles have shipped and they've told us. To call them liars defeats the purpose of them telling us in the first place.
People have been asking for numbers and when OUYA finally gives some, you say, "that's horse shit!".

Not having a go at you specifically, but this is where rumour and misinformation come from.

Starting on December 28th (i.e. in January), one thousand, two hundred (1,200) developer consoles (not retail consoles) were manufactured and shipped to developers who had backed the kickstarter at the $700+ tier range. It took about two weeks between the first console shipping and the last consoles being received.

This has nothing to do with the current shipping except to illustrate that OUYA had a much smaller manufacturing run with the console some months back, so actually this is not the first time they've manufactured anything, but clearly this earlier run in January was much smaller scale. You can infer what you want from the numbers and times it took to ship them.

I don't know, from reading this it sounds to me like they answered your question. Although not with a firm date (which makes sense). They said 3 things in that email:

    1) You ordered after Aug 8th.
    2) They'll start shipping pre-orders after all Kickstarter consoles are out
    3) They expect all Kickstarter consoles to be shipped by mid-late May

This would mean that they are expecting to start fulfilling pre-orders in the beginning of June IF they are done with the Kickstarter consoles.
