Maybe it's me bug controls feel a bit unpolished, little jittery...... And full game is too expensive for me to purchase.

I dropped the money for the whole thing. Occasionally when using the dpad and quickly changing direction in mid air our hero will lose all momentum and fall straight down. Not sure what makes that happen.
Like I said though, not very often. Love the game.
I'm having similar issues. It seems that the game only registers the jump button (whether it's the O button or the Y button) about 75-80% of the time. The other 20-25% it simply doesn't register and the character doesn't jump. This happens regardless if I'm standing on a platform, doing a wall jump, doing a double-jump, or running and jumping. I thought maybe it was my Ouya controller, so I paired my Xbox 360 controller but it has the exact same issue. I love the game and it's a lot of fun, but it can be extremely frustrating when you constantly die or have to redo the level to get three stars because a jump failed. The game has a lot of content and I'd love to support it by purchasing it, but I can't justify the purchase if the basic game mechanic is that flawed. I hope the developer sees these replies and takes a look into the issue because I would buy it in a heartbeat if it didn't do this.
Registered here just to say that this game is one of the reason I'm glad I backed the OUYA.
This is the kind of games that I can't seem to enjoy on mobile devices, but is very much at home on a console.
Hoping to see the sequels on OUYA too!
Glad I wasn't alone. I have this on my ipad, and it's smooth as silk, but because of the timing involved with this type of game, touch control can be tough (though they did a good job with the touch controls). On Ouya, I was so glad to be able to control this game with a pad, but once again (see the two Sonic games), this has frame rate issues, resulting in choppy scrolling. This kind of destroys the game-play for me. I would have thought with the simplistic (yet attractive) retro art style, the frame rate would not chug along like it does.
I love this game and its soundtrack, but I'm getting this weird problem with the controls like most other people. For a split-second he'll become either unresponsive or move on his own. It's game breaking and I really want to buy it but can't due to these problems.
