Kickstarter Update: Friday 12/04-2013 [SHIPPING INFO)

    So, here it is:

Last week, I promised a weekly update to our early backers providing greater transparency into the progress of OUYA shipments to all of you who have supported us since the beginning.

I know you want these units now, better yet, yesterday (I want the same thing), but what I can offer today is better clarity into when you can expect your OUYA, so you can play the great games on the console you helped build!

As you might imagine, the path from production line, to shipping facility, to your front door isn’t always a straight line. We’re learning more and improving production daily -- we’ve already made some tweaks that you will benefit from -- we actually changed a partner this week so we could shave days off the total shipping timeline. We’ve expanded our OUYA team to have feet *literally* on the ground at both our production house and at our distribution facility, and we’re already seeing the benefits of this.

To be totally transparent, here is the current weekly plan of OUYA early backer shipments moving forward:

As you can see, each weekly shipment wave continues to grow, with nearly a quarter of all shipments out by the end of this month and larger-scale shipments going out weekly from there.

Thanks again for your patience, and I hope that these updates will get better weekly, and you’ll have your OUYA soon!

OUYA will keep evolving, and we’ll keep learning from your feedback.

doesn't make much sense why they have to do this to us after getting over 8 million dollars in a kickstarter and now all 100% backers won't have them for over 10 days before they go retail? how is that fair? waiting for almost 2 months and we only get 10 days before public eyes?

A quarter of shipments in a month... thats just plain bad.

Samsung manufactures 600k cell phones a day. Ouya is projecting 10% of that in two months.

Samsung is also a multi-billion dollar company. It's annoying that people even try to make these comparisons.

Having said that, however, this update is sad on multiple levels

Any chance they'll use this extra time to fix our controllers or is that a lost cause?

What's worse is that according to the chart on 4/13 it will have been 17 days since they said they would start shipping and they only will have shipped 5%. Also I do believe in estimates through sample sizes and if isouyashipping is any indication even the chart provided is bogus.

So what's going to happen to the preorders and the retail release? With this kind of huge delay it would be only natural if those were drastically delayed too, unless they are putting the kickstarters on the side burner.

By looking at the chart, it's very possible that at 25th of may only 50% have been shipped...
