I agree that great games for Ouya are not going to be created at launch. Or at least very few. Mainly because big studios need some sort of sign that they will get a return on their investment. If Ouya unit sales show good signs of growth, you will get a good percentage of iOS and Android developers taking a chance on it. When iPhone first came out, the games you could buy were horrible. It took time for bigger and better games to be built.
What will sink Ouya is if the press keep trash talking it because it isn't the second coming of video game consoles. Both developers and buyers will get spooked. The press are right about one thing though, Ouya needs a killer exclusive game for launch. They should have used some of their backer money to get one big studio to do an exclusive game. And they should have made a really big deal about it in the press. It would be a big ask because of the time constraints but it could have been done. Even if it was just like the first episode of a game or something.
Playstation are going to be putting pressure on Ouya by changing their indie relationship to be more open and XBox will follow. I honestly think that it will still be just as hard, if not harder, for indies to use these consoles because there is an expectation by the public that if they buy a $400 console, that they deserve better than your average mobile/indie game. Look at how bad XBLIG is for XBox.
I could rant more but I'll leave it at that for now.
