Old OUYA, new trick. X96 Mini

I liked my OUYA when I got it but it has been idle for a while.
When OSVR V1.4 came out I tried it on the OUYA and it did not work.
Then in January 2015 I got Forge TV after seeing it with OSVR at CES 2015.
Again, did not work and Razer lacked support for Android version of their software.

    In December 2017 I got X96 Mini with S905W and Android 7.1.2 !

This week I looked at Oculus GO and thought it was close to possible but Facebook and Oculus have
stopped Mac OS and Linux and have no Android plans formally.

I tried my OSVR with the X96 and it works except for no motion detection and round view point with corners omitted.

I will begin again to test with OUYA control that has mouse feature.
Also I use Steam control with motion detection to gain some feedback.

My reason for posting here is to see who else has variations of OUYA for VR or other innovative solutions.

I am not aprogrammer and may not check in often but wanted to throw my past 3 years with Razer out there.

I think everyone, here, would also like to throw their past 3 years with Razer out there...

    :/

    I know little/nothing about VR.
Moving my head IRL causes massive motion sickness and balance issues, so I’ve avoided VR like the plague.
As for 3D gamedev.. .. yeah, that’s not really my thing, either. I stick to chunky retro pixels, and no more.
But good luck trying to figure something out.
I doubt the OUYA could manage anything, but if you do get any sort of interesting results, let us know.

VR is not that big a deal.
It is just what the OSVR was designed for.
I see it as an attached big screen TV for now until someone comes up with a reason to buy in.
I need to either control by feel or by cursor in the center of the screen.
No other accommodations need be made to get any use from the head mounted display.

For games moving arms and head are totally pointless if there is no common real life analogy.

For museum and vacation tours it is useful.
I have a camera that shoots in all directions so I turn the cardboard mounted phone and it changes the viewing angle.

I can do it with out VR on Facebook and Youtube quite easily.
Just like street view in Google maps.

The OUYA handles that easily on stored media but requires a java script to be controlled by mouse feature of game control.
The joystick also is correct control analogy.

Thanks for replying and good luck with any OUYA or Android TV apps you write and support.
BTW: Your signature link ".apks avalable here" is 404 not found.

I wanted to try your stuff on the OSVR_X96 combo.

    Crikey!
    *fixed link*
I wonder how many more broken links are out there.
Might have to tweak the server redirects a bit, to fix those...

Trying with HDTV before limited by OSVR viewport

I picked games that were HTML5 and Android TV for preview on Chrome then adb install on X96.

Remote is IR only with an extend wire to allow attaching TV box to back of set.
There are two 2.0 USB with one for 2.4 Ghz dongle mouse and other for OSVR control box and audio to headphone.
I am going to try STEAM control in USB on OSVR belt box. This may work.
Also need to see if I can press PLAY icon on reduced viewing angle of round center of screen.

I would like to have created a round screen with device, network and config displayed for screen capture to pass on to you to evaluate usability.
Alternatively I have bug report TXT or chkbugreport available if that wold help to describe limitations and strengths.
    No bluetooth.
Wifi is there but much more usable on 100M hardwired.
pkg manager in Termux with popup keyboard.
    Access by ADB including shell

It has external MicroSD (mine 32gb) and 2 GB ram and 16 GB eMMC internal storage.
    $35 from Geek Buying.

Keyboard commands like Penquin Parade won't work as I only blindly use mouse or TV remote.
Others may be able to touch type.

I will step through all your apps that are apk for Android TV and maybe try on my Forge TV Cortex and OUYA if I have enough mental bandwidth.
I use Forge TV Cortex with the OUYA mouse pad (have 2 or 3 devices simultaneously) and Steam haptic & motion controller for S & G !

Also just tried "VIRTUAL REALITY FORUM" and it is VIRTUALLY gone "502 Bad Gateway" ...
