Thread: Factory Reset

    Factory Reset

Just curious, has anyone tried a Factory Reset lately? If so, are the updates still being sent to our systems once online, or is there a place to get them for side-loading?

My system has been having mild boot-up issues recently, and I didn’t want to chance a reset if there is no way to keep the updates.

Updates? If you have updated to the latest version, which was released some time ago, then there would not be an update to go to. When you reset the device it does not remove the updates to the OS.

Cool thanks Eldon; I was hoping you would see this (my mind is slightly more at ease if it comes to that).

Yes, they did do that right.

I helped create a mini-game in Explosive Dinosaurs. Otakupunk played it, and now you can too!

I found out that Google Play remains even after a factory reset. Any way to remove it completely?

The only way to completely reset is to sideload the firmware onto the OUYA. This can only be done by the recovery console, which is a bit clunky to get into and requires a USB keyboard.

Do not let it discourage you though, it is doable and really I recommend people to install the CWM recovery, this way you can get into that recovery console right from the ouya device, without a keyboard. It also prevents a bad flash from bricking the device.

Can you tell me what this CWM recovery is and what is it good for, beside the factory reset?

I think I already answered that, "…you can get into that recovery console right from the ouya device, without a keyboard. It also prevents a bad flash from bricking the device."
