Yeah, something like that. Ugh, I wish I could remember what I was told in exact detail. I think I was also told that there will be no way to download anymore games from Discover if worst comes to worst. Though, that's obvious. The following response was encouraging people to search for APK files from places like TotalOUYA.

I remember talking about this a long while ago, specifically the aspect of what happens if OUYA goes belly-up. Now, as someone who has made apps and bought apps, I've thought the lack of an official exit plan is a complete joke. If you say the store is going to stop working then I hope everyone is capable of making an image of their OUYA as you will no longer be able to download the OUYA apks. If the DRM servers go down then some games are going to be left without access. The devs could swoop in and save the day, as a note I plan to do this with my apps if this does pan out, but I would not expect most devs to do anything considering there will be no more sales of their apps without the store.

Additionally, before anyone else thinks of it, we could create a mirror of the APKs on the OUYA store, but that would not include the premium titles. Unfortunately, you can not get access to the URL without supplying a special parameter to the API call.

For any dev looking to future proof their app, checkout gumroad.com. They have an API for license checking and it could be swapped in to your game/app should the need come.

There was an F2P app that got pulled shortly after launch (ghostbusters pinball) that I downloaded from TotalOuya and sideloaded something for the first time. The install is identical to all my other games.

Reason for pulling the original app was there was no cap on the number of tokens your could earn, so people would not play for a few days until their token count maxed out at 99. Free tokens were supposed to cut off at 5 but it didn't happen, so they removed it because there was virtually no incentive to buy tokens.

Whatever. I got to install the app after it was pulled by sideloading it. No other console or device will let you do this without jailbreaking or soft-modding. The big consoles are an exclusive VIP club where you need an access card to get in. Ouya is like a house party with doors wide open.

I'm also a bit weary too about my purchased games. Some do not dial home but some do. And if the Ouya plug gets pulled, I won't be able to play new pinball tables on The Pinball Arcade app. Wii-U and Ouya are my only two 8th gen consoles. I don't use tablets or "smart" devices and quite frankly touch screens are poorly suited for many games. There is no TPA on Wii-U so if Ouya folds I'll lose acess to new Pinball tables and updates. The other cheapo games, while fun, I wouldn't lose sleep over, but Ouya is my pinball simulator and it would suck to not get the latest tables or post to leaderboards, then have to start all over from square one and repurchase everything on another platform, ie steambox or whatever. Steambox definitely is not worth the high pricetag just for one game.

OUYA isn't closing tomorrow so no need to act like it is. They won't fight this wildfire, we already know. What I watched last night was ridiculous but I guess they're okay with developers, investors and consumers seeing this crap. It was trending more than Baltimore burning to the ground. True or not, you don't just let your face get kicked in. I would really love to know what Triplepoint does if they're a PR and marketing firm because if they get paid to not even advice someone to say "we're not going anywhere" then I want that job. Hell, I'll even take half of what they get. At least let the consumers, developers and others know someone is alive. Show some damned signs of life instead of letting everyone jump ship without a fight.

    Carry on.

20$ is NOTHING if he loves that forum.

In 2014 I paid more than 120 € for Virtual Inn site, last year, to keep it alive only another year.
(however things gone worse months later, so I will not pay again and probably the site will disappear)

I thought they just had a pure android ROM.

To be honest i'm betting any of the still active DEV's could help legitimate owners of their app use the game offline.

Until the announcement comes from Ouya directly. I re-guard every article rumoring of selling the Ouya as nothing more then another media scare tactic to isolate and destroy as that is how people in the media industry get promoted. If you can kill a company with just a paragraph, you get bumped up to being a MSNBC correspondent . All of this buzz is over an e-mail leak which is designed to become a self-fulfilling prophecy especially when they know Ouya is not going to fire back about it.

Silence does not help Ouyas case and I wish they would have some more PR backbone to stand up and say "you got it all wrong!" to forbes magazine. But until Ouya has their own press release about the state of the company which will happen one way or the other. Forbes, and all of the re-tweeting PR gaming sites that just regurgitate the news instead of actually do investigative reporting is all crap!

There, I've said it.. Done.. Have an awesome day everyone!

I'm not sure if this is connected to the situation, but it seems like a response to Polygon's OUYA buyout article tweet. Or it could be just a fly lawnmower and a gorilla.

In the event of The Worst...

There aren't many places where AGameAWeek feels at home. OUYA is a very rare thing, and I'm thankful for Julie and Co for everything they've done, even if my games were an odd unplanned side-effect!!
It's great to have met you all (except RS, obviously) and I hope that in future you might occasionally stumble upon my games, and think back on the great times we've spent clicking away with our inexplicably noisy controllers
I'd like to thank you all for the feedback on my stupid amount of games, and would love to add as many of you as I can on my Twitter feed (@Jayenkai) so we can stay in touch.
Thank you all who enjoyed my games, and to those who were put off by my lousy art style, I hope you'll learn to try new things, some day!

    \o Farewell, OUYA!
    See you tomorrow!!
