They're already not making hardware - they've been selling refurbs for a while.

People do realize that if the company is sold for whatever reason that the company buying it wouldn't just close the doors right? Who would pay like $10-20M or whatever and just close a company. They would run it the way it should have been or at least make an attempt to run it better than it is right now.

Reading these tweets...it's like the blind leading the blind. Even developers who are making games or did in the past.

This crap is how OUYA keeps losing and they probably won't release a statement like every other time...and keep that market share shrinking...

When there's a wildfire, at least throw a freakin bucket of water or something.

That 40,000 devs number is pretty funny. If it was actually true it means a huge number of devs signed on for Ouya then took one look at how Ouya was doing and just said nope. The over 1000 games number looks much better.

This seems likely to be true as it is from a big and well known source not someone trying to make a story for a small site or with particular interest in contributing to the demise of Ouya. If false Ouya would likely be able to seek damages.

Killswitch: Small startup companies often get bought and closed especially if the buyer doesn't see value in the brand. Usually, the buyer see value only in part of their technology to add to their portfolio. In the case of Ouya the large number of ready for tv android games in their store would be attractive. Samsung bought boxee and had no interest in keeping that company open. Before they were bought they released a product with cloud dvr so they may have been interested in that technology. Not saying that is how it will necessarily go down but it is a possibility.

Well... People sure love to hate the OUYA lol! At lease everyone on the internet will hear about the console. No such thing as bad publicity. Besides... Looking for an investor doesn't equal closing the company... OE in China and stuff. The comments on those news sites make me sad. I wish I could hate stuff I know nothing about as well, looks like it feels really good to feign superiority. Maybe I'll start being a bigot or something... Yea that's it.

And yet it seems more than 75 per cent of these devs have not made a game.

Remembering that many have 2 or more games out and a certain Jayenkai has many many more than that on the system.

It does happen sometimes but they are usually absorbed into the bigger company so technically the brand/product doesn't just instantly die, especially one with some value like being the grandfather of the Android console movement. Yeah that's what I meant to say....the first time.

I'm also so surprised how popular this thread has become in under three hours. IGN are scumbags, OUYA staff are probably bawling their heads off at these tweets and fuck the Verge for reviewing the OUYA.

Question: Could anyone else see OUYA Inc as the American wing of one of the Chinese companies who make Android boxes? I can.
