Buying a New or Refurbished OUYA??

Game Stop no longer has OUYA's for sale!!
OUYA no longer has OUYA's for sale!!

    Ebay of course does!!
OTOH I could probably buy a 386 running Windows for Workgroups on Ebay.

What is someone supposed to think when the engine for OUYA's primary product "Games" is no longer available.

These comments aren't being made to bash OUYA..........just an observation from someone who enjoys their OUYA.

There is thread after thread after thread on this...

At this point the only thing anyone can say is think what you want because no one is going on the record to give a solid answer. Not the best way to go about it but that seems to be what's going on.

They had stopped making them probably at the end of summer last year - a guess based on what they told Reading Rainbow would be the cut off to have Ouyas made for them.

After summer last year, Ouyas were noted as going out of stock from various places until early December when they went out of stock everywhere. They have remained out of stock everywhere ever since. With only refurbs , store returns and dregs showing up once in a blue moon in small numbers at various spots ie not newly manufactured stock. We know it. Not much to add, except to say , yes it is troubling.

It has been my hope ever since then , that they had stopped making them to clear stock in readiness for the Ouya 2 launch. But every month that goes by, my positivity is waning on that.
I think we all understand that they are chasing dollars and revenue in China, ie getting OE onto chinese devices. They absolutely should be doing that. But they also shouldn't forget the foundations of the company and its user and developer base. Which is what I feel they are doing by not addressing the HW situation. Who knows, hopefully the Ouya 2 comes out and its cheery days again.

I still see them at Target every time I stop in and swing by the electronics dept. But yeah Ouya is essentially dead. Would have been nice to see it succeed as we all envisioned it but it was a long shot at best and hey, at the end of the day, we all still have our systems to enjoy so thats something.
