What are the chances of 2 player simultaneous co-op? Or even 2 players controlling the same ship, like the shmup level on Gunstar Heroes? Maybe player 2 can control a little rotating minion that shoots little low powered bullets? My son and I are finally able to play some co-op videogames so a two player option is always welcome!

Two players is an interesting idea. I like your suggestion of an extra gun turret / minion on the main ship. It would have to be balanced with a single player game as far as scoring is concerned, because of the high score table. Maybe for a future update!

Speaking of high scores, I noticed a great top score today, by WTF. I did not add WTF to the game's swear filter, maybe I should, for the future?

I am working on an update that has some graphical changes. One of these is an effect that lights up the background behind explosions. This slowed the game down a bit so the last week I have been busy optimizing things, but it can still be improved. I also added mushrooms.

Just make seperate score tables for single player and co-op. The real hardcore players will play co-op by themselves, using their feet (or other appendage) on the second controller.

A new version 0.3 has been published. Changes:

    - 3d rotation effect on player ship and enemy turrets
    - mushrooms
    - fixed a high score bug

The player ship now uses 3 sprites so that it banks when going up/down. The high score bug would prevent a low score from being added to the high score table even though the table was not yet full. As a special case, scores of zero points are not added to the high score table anymore. I wasted a few weeks adding an explosion effect to the game that would light up the background. Although it looked nice it slowed the game down when it became busy, so I removed it again.
