    I'm going to make one more suggestion: add the option to start the game at a later level. Once you've gotten decent at it, the game doesn't really start getting interesting until around level 5 or so -- and it's kind of annoying to have to slog through the first few levels every time in order to get to the fun part.

    I second this. Something like what Tempest did in the arcade: I think it let you start at level 5, 10, 15... your starting score was inflated a bit if I remember. They wanted as many quarters as possible, so getting your ass kicked in three minutes was more financially tasty than an expert getting ten minutes of play per credit.

    I will keep this suggestion of skipping levels in mind for the next update. (The first update has already been submitted and will be published once reviewed.) Or, an alternative solution where players cannot skip levels but the lower levels are made more interesting (less waiting), and/or the difficulty increases sooner. I may actually prefer this alternative because people still start at 0 points and have to fight for every point, instead of already having (for example) 500 points without having fired a shot.




    Version 0.2 is now on Discover. These are the important changes:

    1) Framerate increased to 60 fps (was 50)
    2) Storing only the best 3 scores for same name

    If after setting three scores for the same name you set another score that is lower, it is displayed in the high score table that you see afterwards, but it is not stored.

    Normally I wouldn't try to get the high score on my own game but... man those are some high scores! I played 20 or 30 times and could not beat them.

    it's a truly playable game, Foppy

    Both the ship and the enemies are extremely simple painted, but the game plays well, so it's OK.

    My GF enjoyed this game even though she's not too good at shmups. She remarked on liking the music in particular.

    FWIW, I played more than 20 or 30 times

    This game's addictive, at least for me.
