Aha! But you didn't check the store.
They are not new. They are new-ish. They are brushed metal units and may be in previously opened boxes.
Best guess is they are returns from Target.

Demos. Don't let them try and more will buy; does it matter if they are happy?
The attitude the developer has displayed toward me by not providing a demo is reciprocated by me not patronizing them.
DRM. Insulting and punishing customers equals increased sales, right?
The attitude the developer has displayed toward me by requiring that I constantly prove I'm not a thief is reciprocated by me not patronizing them.
Ok so like he said. They are not new. Open box units. Nothing to see here. Move along lol

Stock returns are not refurbs.
Damn sorry I posted about the fucking things lol
GameStop also has used Ouyas, $60 free shipping. http://www.gamestop.com/consoles/ouy...rbished/113434
The limited quantity and open box stuff looks like slightly hidden fine print because otherwise it just looks like they are back in the store. Anyway, this makes how long they were out of stock look stranger because before I was wondering what was taking them so long to manufacture more and now I'm wondering why they are offering open boxed ones instead of newly manufactured ones. This and the issue with the Reading Rainbow OUYA's makes it look like it is just as hard for OUYA Inc. to get a hold of brand new OUYA's as it is for the consumers.
@Schiz: IMO, because they have stopped making them since Nov-Dec, and are running out all remaining stock including returns and refurbs(gamestop). Which to be frank, is exactly what everyone is thinking right now. I suspect (hope) it's because the Ouya 2 is near. Cross fingers (hopefully they weren't scared off by the Shield announcement)
Ouya 2 would be a nice thought, especially if they are trying to offload as much stock as possible. I really believe they just stopped making them, but then again why wouldn't they just say "hey we aren't making anymore". I guess that would paint more of a picture of Ouya being over wouldn't it. This could all lead to the beaten horse topic of "where are ANY announcements Ouya related" in terms of what the heck is going on with them.
I hope it has a bright side to it and there is strategic thinking going on. At the bare minimum, I hope they are trying to make sure all the old stock gets sold out so that they don't have to deal with the multiple issues from the different console and controller iterations and then they just get the Anthracite back in stores. But an OUYA 2.0 would be good too. My worst fear is that it is a big clearance and the push to get devs to support China is because maybe OUYA will be shifting most of their attention over there.
