To be fair on devs, would you put your game up on Ouya Everywhere knowing the only other device on OE is MOJO which probably has sold a tenth that of Ouya which devs know amount to not much SW sales. The answer is probably not. Especially if you don't have comfort in releasing a game on MOJO without checking it becuase you don't have a MOJO. Then your left with the decision, should I buy a MOJO, knowing full well you probably won't recover the cost of that MOJO purchase let alone your time in ensuring it works to your satisfaction on it. And yes I know Ouya are doing a bit to ensure games work on the MOJO, but as I said, as a dev you most probably want to see and ensure your game works on that platform yourself.
To date , there really hasn't been a reason to move your game to OE, except for their push now into China, which should definitely be worth it. Although I'm not sure they have addressed the support concerns devs have ie not having the chinese platforms their games will go on via OE. This is where Ouya need to be communicating with devs to ensure their concerns are addressed, and any road blocks they have are identified and worked through. Perhaps offer a loan arrangement for the chinese consoles so devs can at least test on them before putting their games up on OE for china. OR just give the maybe 700 devs who have games on Ouya an Alibaba console for free - $70,000 is not much of a spend for the ability to entice devs. ie if you agree to make your game available on OE for the Alibaba console, then we will send you a free Alibaba console to test your app on and to keep. Spend $70K when you just got $10Million is a fair trade off.
If I was Alibaba or Xiaomi and I came onto this forum, I'd be alarmed. Especially if I was from Alibaba having just invested $10Mill in Ouya to get games on my platform. Seeing devs feedback and realising that not all are going to put there games on my Alibaba products , i'd wonder why the fuck I just invested $10 mill in Ouya for.
And there lie it the problem, if games are not made available to the Chinese market via OE, then Alibaba will get burned. If Alibaba is burned, bye bye Ouya Everywhere, because no one will touch it with a pole if that happens. Ouya need to be pulling out all stops to ensure devs issues are addressed and their games are made available on OE china. Especially when so much is riding on it for Ouya
