Okay. It's a given that I'm going to root the Mojo to make full use of it so I can better access google play, but I asked over on the Mojo development forums this and someone said by rooting the Mojo, you no longer have access to Ouya Everywhere. Surely this isn't true is it?

After rooting the Mojo, can you please link me to what I would need to do to get rid of the always-there navbar and make everything nice and full screen like the Ouya? That is of vital importance to me. I never want to see the navbar ever on something designed for the tv and a controller.

Please elaborate. I'd like to know which games you noticed the biggest improvements in performance on Mojo's Tegra 4 rather than Ouya's Tegra 3. I assume there must be a difference in 3D games that tax the Ouya and so far I haven't gotten any sort of detailed response to this inquiry.

It makes some apps much easier to use than they would be on Ouya.
Thank you for clarifying that. That's a huge reason I want it. There are games like Wonder Momo and Final Fantasy VI on Google Play that either don't work sideloaded on Ouya or are virtually unplayable on Ouya. I just want to be able to play Android games on my TV that my Ouya can't.

I ask because apparently, the Mojo doesn't have a power button. Seemingly the only way to turn it off would be to unplug the power or to hit the switch on a power bar. This is kinda a concern for me. This is also a concern for me as I have pretty slow internet. The more devices that are connected at once the slower it gets, so I turn off the Ouya when I use my PS3, etc.

With Mojo, can you set it into a barely on, non-internet aware low power mode? Because otherwise I'll be unplugging it. I assume yes, in which case the question becomes how to I awaken it? Hold down the Home button on the Mojo controller? Then lastly, how do you turn off the Mojo controller? With Ouya, I end up almost always removing one of the faceplates and taking out one of the batteries because there's no on/off switch. Hopefully the Mojo is a bit better designed.

I'm still a fan of what the Shield is doing, but it's also more about portable gaming and less about the TV experience - unless I've missed something in an update?
That's my position too. Even though a Shield would be far more powerful, I don't want to spend a ton of money and I'm not looking for a mobile device. I want something more similar to the Ouya, designed with a controller and a TV in mind. I don't want anything that requires me to squint at the screen, touch the screen, or require me grab a mouse and keyboard.

Probably already said, but not all OUYA games are represented on the MOJO storefront.

As for getting rid of the navbar after rooting, I don't know. I haven't rooted mine yet, so I'm not sure what would be involved in that. Sorry I can't be more help there.

With the performance comparisons, the game I noticed the biggest difference in was Wrestling Revolution 3D. That game allows for twenty characters, a ton of weapons and props, as well as a bunch of modifications to the ring area all on screen at once with 3D graphics. On Ouya, having lots of characters and props can lead to some significant slowdown on occasion. The game runs consistently smoother on MOJO. A ten man tag match on Ouya might slow down several times while the same match on MOJO might slow a bit on startup, but catches up quick and plays fairly well from there. As for non-Ouya 3D titles, I run GTA: Vice City without problems. Hopefully that gives you a better idea of how the MOJO performs.

You are correct, MOJO does not have a power button. In fact, you cannot even tell it to go into sleep mode like you can with the Ouya. It just automatically goes into sleep mode after about ten minutes of inactivity. Just checked mine while in sleep mode, and the thing is room temperature. Doesn't seem to heat up at all, at least not externally (not going to take it apart to check inside). As for the sleep mode being connected to the Internet, it still receives push notifications while in sleep mode, so it apparently stays connected and still accesses data. As for the controller, it turns off when the system goes to sleep. One more thing of note, if you have it hooked up in a bedroom, you will want something to put in front of it at night, unless you could use a nightlight. There is a big blue light in the front of the console that is always on as long as it is plugged in. The room becomes bathed in blue at night.

Thanks for that post. You touched on everything I was concerned about, even issues that I didn't mention like setting it up in a bedroom.

Sounds like the solution to turn it off when I want it off is to simply unplug the power plug.

So that leaves a couple of questions:

Presumably, the MOJO boots up automatically as soon as power is supplied to it. How long is the MOJO's boot process? Ouya takes about 20 seconds, or upwards of a minute and a half if an external drive is attached. How does the Mojo fair? Without a sleep mode, I'll be plugging it nightly.

And what about the controller? Does the controller automatically shut itself off when the system is unplugged? Actually for that matter, is there any way to tell if the controller is actually on? I dont want to have to remove the batteries from the controller to turn it off if there's some other way to tell that it's off.

PS1 can be emulated pretty much perfectly on OUYA - with ePSXe and not FPSE or whatever it's called on the OUYA storefront.

This thread is probably the most comprehensive thread we have on the MOJO.

I'm just that awesome. I wanna know things about the Mojo beyond bullet points.

I'm just seeking info trying to determine if the Mojo is worth buying. Lots of people have told me no, but then again lots of people say the Ouya isn't worth buying either and I consider the Ouya to be one of the best purchases I've ever made.

All your questions have made me think of one of my own. There is a modification out there that puts the OUYA firmware on tablets and so forth. So, I'm wondering if this can turn a M.O.J.O. into just an OUYA with a Tegra 4 so you don't even have to worry about which games are on its version of OUYA Everywhere? Or if there is a way to do a kind of dual boot to switch between it being a M.O.J.O. and an OUYA? The results of either one of those I would find interesting.
