    Android tablet recovery

Has anyone had to recover their tablet? Trying to find out how long they've been in recovery mode. It's not even like I have much on the tablet but it's now 7 hours of watching Andy look like he's having heart surgery :/

What tablet do you have? Does it just boot to recovery or is that the bootloader?

If you have adb and fasboot installed on your computer you should be able to bring it back to life one way or another. Worst case scenario is probably gonna be flashing with a factory image and losing any data on it.

If your tablet is a samsung device... Well just flash with odin!

    boot in odin mode:
    (on tablet startup)
    Vol -
    Home
    Power

    Or

    Vol-
    Power

Acer Iconia...have to check model number. I'm probably going to have to factory restore if I can get one of the ROMs to work...tried 5 so far. Acer's response to people from what I see online is a new motherboard instead of fixing the issue.

Have you tried using the Acer toolkit from here? http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2240029 It is mostly for rooting but can also flash images that are available for download as well. There's also links for other options on different models if you show the content under FAQs on that page.

Is your tablet stock ROM and recovery? There's different ways to go about recovering it depending on your setup before the soft brick.

Just stock. I got the ROMs from another thread on xda...don't have it in front of me right now. One of them got it to like 85% recovered then froze. I'll look through the toolkit stuff and all that.

One day it was fine, the next it wouldn't get past the Acer screen. I believe it's the A500, it's a few years old. I'll keep looking through XDA until I figure it out I guess.

    Thanks.

Since it's stock I would try a hard factory reset using method 2 at this link first.

If that doesn't work this link has factory images as well as instructions for flashing them as an update.zip using a SD card.

Hopefully somehow your system data just got corrupted and it's not a problem with your internal storage. It's really odd for a device to just stop working unless there was an error installing an update or something similar.

Once you get it working I'd recommend installing a custom recovery like cwm or twrp. It makes recovering from something like this so much easier.

I'll keep trying, thanks for the help but nothing seems to be working now, all I get is Andy looking like he's having surgery. I should have just got one of those cheap quad cores for $29 when Walmart had the Black Friday sale. Time to scan eBay to see if there's any decent 10" tabs, not like I use it for much of anything.
