Why no Spectrum emulator for OUYA

    Hi,

I recently bought an Android based tablet,so I can play Spectrum games .I have a couple on the tablet, but I am not impressed with the onscreen controls
I would sooner play via a joystick,on a bigger screen

The reason for this post, I am very disappointed that there is no dedicated Spectrum emulator for the OUYA
Am I wrong, and one is available ,or is there one due soon?

    Any feedback is appreciated

    Thank you

Emulators aren't created by OUYA. Like most of the things on OUYA, they're created as and when people choose to develop them.
If you look at all the .dotEmu emulators, you'll notice a trend of them being mostly targetted towards the Nintendo side of things. This is, I assume, because that particular developer grew up with those consoles, and so focussed first and foremost on those. He's also added a C64, so obviously that, too, was close to his (/her?) heart.
I'm personally more of an Amstrad CPC fanboy, but I've never been one for emulation. (I tend to be of the "This game would be better if I simply remade it" mindset)

It takes the right sort of developer to make emulators, and I guess so far, none of the OUYA devs available have wanted to attempt a Spectrum.
Give it time, and eventually something will turn up.
Meanwhile, head over to Zophar's Domain and dig through their list of Android Emulators. That's usually where I grab mine from. You'll need to find "just" the right one for it to work well on OUYA, and of course, you'll need to sideload the .apk to the OUYA, but you might stumble upon one or two really good emu's along the way.

Be sure to let us know what you find!

    Yes!
I totally missed the c64 / spectrum war.
Because I didn't know such a system existed cause I don't live in the UK.

The Xbox PS war is getting monotonous. :-D

Has mr.Jay say... i think you can sideload a spectrum emulator (from google play) and some emulators have got an option to remove on screen controlls

Zophar's Domain still exists? That used to be where I got my emulators back in freakin' middle school....

    Yep, sure does!
I got my very first PC emulators from that site, and am glad it's still there, today.
Tried and trusted. The internet would be a worse place, without it!!

LOL.. The site's copyright dates say it all, really 1996-2012.. Zophar's been slacking!!

Wow. That site is still with us. I used a few back in the late 90's. Bet they are all gone.

They've been barely active for a lot longer than since 2012. One of my ROM hacks is hosted there, and the last time I tried to submit an update to it, absolutely nothing happened. And that was back in... I wanna say 2006.

"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "otherwise you wouldn't have come here."
