USB NES Controller doesn't work on the OUYA HELP!

I bought two USB NES Controllers in hope that it will work on the OUYA. But, when I hook one of it up, there is no response. Is there a way to map each key or something? I contacted one of the OUYA developers and he said that I needed drivers for the controllers which is possible on Android 5.0. I really wish I could use them!

You could perhaps use them with the emulators since controller buttons can be configured.

That's the problem... I tried using it with NES.emu and it doesn't work.

drivers for USB controllers, that is odd since controllers have been available for a while on Android, 4.1 if I recall correctly.

The controllers work well on my computer but it just doesn't work on the OUYA and I don't know why? Does the OUYA currently run off of Android 4.1?

My brother ordered a cheap usb nes controller and had the same result. Worked with a computer but not the OUYA. I tried connecting it to my tablet and phone with no luck either. For some reason android doesn't like it.

I've been meaning to mess with it more but haven't had time.

Edit: Just tested again on my tablet w/ android 5.0 and it works so it's not an android problem. The encoders advertised as zero delay work the same and don't work with the OUYA.

From what I've been able to figure out it has something to do with how android recognizes it. If I remember correctly android sees them as generic gamepad 0 or something similar and because of this OUYA doesn't assign them a controller spot. I'll see if I can find the info again.

Yes it does, though as you said it could very well be a driver issue which happens if the device was not designed with Android in mind.

The OUYA developer I contacted earlier said I would need to flash the OUYA to Android 5.0 which I don't know how to do. Is there any way I can map the keys and install it on the OUYA myself? Also, I'm just trying to use the controllers for NES emulation on the OUYA. I tried using it on NES.emu but it doesn't work.

With the encoder I was able to sideload one of the joystick apps to get it to work with the OUYA. Unfortunately it is a huge pain in the.... So we just use xin-mos. It should work with the nes controller. The app I was using is USB/BT Joystick Center, there's a free version but it's limited. Also your OUYA must be rooted.
