Sure, Ouya is coming like the world peace, i keep hearing the ouya 2 is coming a thousand years.

But don´t believe me, just remember:

    - Every Ouya game MUST have a free trial (not anymore!)

    - Every Ouya can be rooted if the owner wants (not anymore!)

    - Every controller issues would be fixed in the next firmware release (not enough laughs in the universe!!)

    - We want to give faster solutions so we will release new firmwares every month or so (Maybe in Jupiter, where one year equals twelve earth years)

so, dont despair, keep waiting and sure you could get your shining new Ouya for Christmas 2037, Santa promises you!!!

There is a 40 page thread somewhere in which this has been discussed ad nauseam. Not happy about it but ok, now it is so. The End.

From what I see, it's still possible, if one knows how. Go find a method.

So laughable that it is so for many with the 0x0104 firmware, which apparently solved many of the problems. If your controller doesn't work, contact the support.

People protested because they had to update their console everytime they switched it on. Let me guess, if they started again releasing monthly updates, you would be one of those complaining about too frequent updates? Besides, what other update do you need? Updating your console even for nothing makes you feel badass?

Sorry everyone else, this seemed just an overly acid post which deserved an adequate reply.
Most of the time I keep my OUYA offline: please consider it before inserting a phone-home/always online DRM in your game. If you still plan to do so, please declare it. You don't want pirates, I don't want to be frauded.

For someone to say it can't be rooted is an absolute joke at this point. Look how many threads there are on the subject or my default answer...Ask Eldon

I haven't seen anyone say their controller with the new firmware still has issues. If they have then it may be a defective controller but doing a quick search, have not seen it.

If the Terminator 800 brain chip existed then there would be people out there saying things like,"OUYA 2.0 would have gotten all the phone ports OUYA 1.0 was lacking and most of the indie developers on board if only it had the T-800 brain chip!"
There is a massive difference in the T3 and the K1. MASSIVE.

Are you saying I shouldn't be able to talk about my X1 OUYA prototype? Because I'm going to dammit. It has 1TB storage, dual X1s and a VR helmet that teleports you into the game
Master Control didn't need no helmet & that was back in 1982.

I understand that but according to the graph below it appears that the difference between the T3 and T4 is significant. It may not be as massive as the K1 and X1 but significant enough that it would clearly be an OUYA 2.0 and supply what is need for most if not all of the games for that yearly refresh. My point is if you put another dot on that graph to represent the average needed for all of the games every OUYA owner wants ported and the average needed for every game that would potentially end up on the OUYA 2.0 even if it had a K1 then I bet that dot would be closer to the T4 if not right on it and no where near the dot of the K1. To put the point another way, 32GB of RAM is massive compared to the OUYA's 1GB but if an OUYA 2.0 had 32GB then out of that 32GB maybe only 2 to 4 would be used. So, unless we are expecting games that you could mistaken for PS4 or XBOX ONE games then it seems like overkill. The other side of that coin is if a K1 was used then gamers would be hyped up and expecting games they could be mistaken for being on those consoles and likely to be very disappointed. Also, gamers of those consoles don't expect jumps as big as from the T3 to K1 even after 8 or so years. So, why should we expect jumps that huge with an indie console based on a model of yearly refreshes? With expectations like that by the time the PS5 is released the OUYA iteration of that time would be the most advanced console with a massive gap between it and the PS5.

Yes most games won't need K1. BUT the potential would be there. I'm sure there are indie games on the big consoles that don't use the full power as well. Does that mean they shouldn't be on the console? They got rid of the obligatory demo to give the Potential for more and better games. Why not get more potential with more power? If I would put all the effects back into my game as I started it I would need more than a T4 for it to be smooth. Yes I can optimize, but I optimized my thousands of particles into one plane with a moving texture and it just doesn't look as nice. I'm all for optimizing to a certain point but I don't want to spend most of my time reducing my game to fit the engine I want to make an awesome game. To me the discussion between K1 and T4 is moot unless we see actual prices.

T4 will not do anything except open small possibilities, if a T4 came out now then the only thing it would do is start the same crap that happens the first time. Bad press, low adoption, etc. K1 opens a LOT more possibility and gives a chance for a new start which is what is needed if they are going to sell units, compete with other Android boxes and the list goes on...

I wrote a very short , um make that long, response the last time we had this discussion, its actually on page 4 of this thread. Yep, the last time we talked about this was in this very thread.

Let me just say this, read the TOP(most popular) comment in one of the last Ouya stories on Engadget:- http://www.engadget.com/2014/08/21/ouya-china-xiaomi/

    "JackFrost Aug 22, 2014
Ouya 2 needs to launch with a Tegra K1 , a Tegra 4 or equiv would be a no sale for me"

Yep , that's what people thought back in August - 5 months ago, let alone what they think now.

The Amazon fire tv has more power then the OUYA and its not marketed as a game system. It does play games and well but its marketed as a tv streaming box.
The processor and 1Gb ram in the OUYA was underpowered when it came out.
They were trying to do it as cheap as possible i guess.
