Is OUYA 2 coming? If so, guesses as to when?

It's been well over a year since the launch, and the last I heard about OUYA 2 was that it's coming...but that was months ago.

Given that OUYA has changed key aspects of their initial plan/model what do people think about OUYA 2? Will there be an OUYA 2 reference device? Will OUYA become more of a gaming-centric app store with expansion of OUYA Everywhere?

Or are we wittnessing the slow decline of OUYA that will end with...who knows what?

As they say every time it is asked:

"It is coming, and will will announce something when it is ready to be announced"

They aren't focussing on yearly revisions anymore (as people have complained about that) but instead the best bang for your buck. So we will probably see something at some point. It will be ready to be announced when they feel it is ready to do so

When did they say they're no longer focusing on yearly revisions? That's news to me, though admittedly, I haven't been following along too closely.

Honestly, I'll be surprised if we ever do actually see a physical OUYA 2 from OUYA, Inc. While I do hope I am surprised, it seems a little late for them to announce before the holiday season, and honestly...it seems like it'll be too late for OUYA after it...unless we hear a big announcement on a big OUYA Everywhere partner, I'm not too hopeful for the future of OUYA at this point.

But again, I haven't been following closely, so I hope I'm just underinformed.

Well we did hear that big Xiaomi partnership a while back. I guess they are pretty big as they are making Samsung stagger a bit. I don't remember which article/video it was but I do know Schizophretard and/or Killswitch posted it somewhere regarding the change from yearly revisions to best possible price... While I am sure it would be more than ideal to release for the holidays, I cannot really comment on that :/.

Around the time they started talking about OUYA Everywhere. They didn't say they are no longer focusing on them but that it isn't literally a year but when the price would be $150 or less for the best product, at the lowest price, and at the right time. In other words, it is more like,"When the market determines it." instead of,"We have to rush this out to meet the year deadline!" It is still the same thing by having the model of planning to continually iterate but isn't literally a year.

I know I posted it somewhere and someone else probably did too because it seems some of the interviews have the same talking points, which I assume is because PR. I have around 7000 posts so good luck finding it if you search my posts. I have no idea where to begin but it's most likely a Julie interview somewhere.

If Ouya 2 releases to the markets... the Ouya 1 will die with no more games/otas/apps???

I think some (most) of the newer games will keep compatibility with the OUYA 1.
Also I have to say that I'm happy with my OUYA 1 so far and I don't need a hardware upgrade, though I'm in any case pretty curious and eager for seeing new, improved feature wise controllers.
Most of the time I keep my OUYA offline: please consider it before inserting a phone-home/always online DRM in your game. If you still plan to do so, please declare it. You don't want pirates, I don't want to be frauded.
