Gamecube emulator for Wii...
Isn't that just a Wii?
new update/release on the wii scene.
tueidj has released the latest version of Devolution that supports OUYA, PS3, and (wired) Xbox360 controllers.
Devolution is a GameCube emulator* for the wii.
been playing smugglers run w/my ouya controller.
epic stuff!
*u need an actual physical gc disc (just on the first boot) for verification before the game will launch.
Gamecube emulator for Wii...

OUYA games I've had a hand in: Slashers: The Power Battle (voice actor), Battle High 2 (casting/marketing director, voice actor)
disc-less. so, no.
just need to own/have access to to physical disc once for anti-piracy verification.
the main point is the ouya controller support.
This is cool, and I'm sure to become very popular, emulator in the making.
If u can get the emulator software to run on different devices without the disc then You will hav something serious.
As of now it's more proof of concept.
Still nice to see that people r working on a GCN emu to drop![]()

Always hated that verification bit. I have some old GC discs that will not read and there for I can not play it... :/

Devolution and Nintendont arent emulators in the truest sense, they are translators that tell the IBM CPU and ATI GPU in the Wii and Wii U to act like their younger brother. Unlike the PS/XB consoles, the GC, Wii and Wii U are like a growing person, the same yet different. They all use the same family of CP & GPU, just always the next level up with each new console.
Actually, the Wii has a built in "Gamecube" mode for the CPU and GPU that literally tells them to act like the previous iterations. It underclocks them to the correct speed, restricts RAM access to the correct capacity, and everything. So the Wii has a built in Gamecube "emulator" in that sense already. What really sets Devolution and Nintendont apart from a Wii running in Gamecube mode is that they do the job purely in software, meaning the Wii's additional resources are available. The result is the ability to use GC games with bluetooth and USB controllers, exit to the system menu without rebooting, and--perhaps most importantly--transfer GC games to another console such as a Wii U or a later model Wii with no Gamecube support.
Anyway, kind of a neat surprise to see Devolution supporting the OUYA game pad.
This is great news, I'm finally going to be able to play windwaker disc on my last model Wii that doesn't support GameCube right?
with Devolution, yes if you have access to an older wii first to do the 1-time disc verification. after that the game will work on Fam Edition Wii.
Nintendont will also work on Family Wii and WiiU and doesn't do any disc verification.
If I remember correctly, this what you'll need to do to use Devolution on your late model Wii. Take your own Wii remote, your games, and the storage media you plan to use to a Wii that supports Gamecube games. If you don't have one, you'll need to borrow one from friends or family (you'll also need to be sure it runs homebrew). Hook up your storage device and sync your remote to the GC-supporting Wii and use Devolution to backup your games. When you're done, you'll need to use the same remote to setup the games on your own Wii or Wii U console. At least, that's what I remember reading. I'm still using DIOS MIOS until my non-AF hard drive gives out.
