Don't Hesitate To Utilize Us For Reviews, OUYAForum.

    Hello,

I'm making this message to remind everyone here that you no longer have to walk into buying an OUYA game that you end up regretting because of a premium pay-model, the unlocked content that isn't worth the price, or anything else like it being a broken mess. We, the OUYAForum Staff are here at your disposal and will review a game upon request with prioritizing by demand. I have reviewed Unearthed: Trail of Ibn Battuta and Legend Dary with the latter getting pulled by OUYA Incorporation's Quality Assurance Team thanks to my feedback. We can do the same for other games if you believe they're bad from a hands-on perspective or just eyeballing what's available to see on its respective details page. The console is no longer about freeing the games but we'll damn sure make our opinions heard at no expense to anyone.

Here is an example of what games that are on our list:

    - [Upon Release] Quantic Pinball by RiotingSpectre.
    - [Undecided] Speed Rush by Kaimega.
    - [In Progress] Pier Solar HD by DrunkPunk.

Again, this is just an example as there's more behind the curtains. We prefer reviewing games that are controversial or new if not both but we'll do anything upon request. Prioritizing will be based on personal feelings by the individual Staff member(s) taking on the review along with the amount of demand a particular game has. If you'd like your game reviewed or have a game someone else made reviewed then private message OUYAForum Staff. We'll do our best to inform with the facts laid out as strongly as we give back to the community in the form of contests for their continued support for OUYAForum.com.

    Sincerely,
    RiotingSpectre

Thanks for this. You guys are probably going to save OUYA with this kind of idea! Once you buy a game, it goes straight up onto your 'purchased' list on 'Play', (which is one of OUYA's best features regarding UI, in my mind) and nobody wants this to be a wall of shame. I can say I'm building a pretty impressive library and I'm happy and proud to have supported every game I've bought; I imagine I'd be put off the console if I found out some of the games that 'looked good' based on screenshots, video or hype, turned out to be duffers! I guess most people would be the same with this. If I can't try it for myself, I'd appreciate a recommendation from someone I trust. Super Puzzle Platformer is one that I would've missed out on if I hadn't seen the review and it's every bit as good as it says it is!

I can tell you as a developer that OUYA's entry barrier is set pretty low (cue "You don't say" meme)! This in itself isn't necessarily a bad thing: I'm eternally grateful that it gives people like me the chance to create my first ever video game and see it published (for free) to share with the playing public. Some kids as young as 8 years old are developing for OUYA, imagine what it does to their self confidence and sense of achievement! I love this about the console! As well as this, there are some weird and wonderful games that probably wouldn't make it to any other console. If they're free, I don't mind, it adds to OUYA's uniqueness. That said, it's different when money is involved. I really expected OUYA's QA to tighten up since devs could charge up front. To be fair, it seems that most devs put effort into their premium games for their own integrity, but judging one or two that have crept through, it don't appear to be a requirement. Perhaps if Julie and co read your reviews, they'd do something about this.

In addition to OUYA inc and the players, I'd also urge developers to use these reviews too, as a way of getting honest and detailed feedback. Remember, when you put your work out there for all to share, somebody eventually is going to review it. Just don't be disheartened if you get a bad review, as a game is only as good or as as bad as its last update and can always improved, that's the beauty of digital distribution. Imagine how good Atari's ET would be if it could be updated all the way up to now! Just don't rip people off, okay? x

I'm glad you enjoy our reviews. The Developer APK section is for testing purposes but not necessarily "review" in the same term as the content in OUYAForum Staff Reviews. Developer APK will also allow everybody and not just OUYAForum Staff to test as it's not exclusive to any group.
