I played the demo last night and completed it. After completing the demo I can see why there's a following for this game coupled with the increased hype from its high-definition revival. The combat is satisfying, the music (in both formats) is awesome, the visuals (in all forms) are nice to look at, the character interaction is unique despite, and the presentation as a whole is pretty damn good to say the least. I do have some very minor complaints:
- When you're talking with anyone and hold any button down then you can't proceed unless you stop holding your buttons down. This made sound weird but just talk to someone and hold a directional button on the d-pad while still trying to continue the conversation with "O". When you know a conversation is going to be short because the person is obviously insignificant and want to get a move on, then I think having buttons held down should have no affect on conversations. Think of it issue causing you to stop & go opposed to without the issue where you go about conversations seamlessly.
- Whenever you walk into something you automatically go into a different direction depending on the placement of the obstacle. I know that this is to streamline movement in the over world but an option to turn this off (as I regularly go the wrong way because of this feature which forces me to backtrack a lot which in itself causes more enemy encounters) would be nice.
I don't know what this whole darkness thing is about and I have a shitty television. Not just any shitty television though. A shitty television that has a blurring/ghosting issue to the extreme along with having the brightness turned down a bit so that I notice it less. What I'm saying is that if anybody should be having problems with the environments then it's me and I'm doing perfectly fine aside from my characters moving like they're wet soap bars because of the previously talked about issue.
With that said the demo is extremely fair in every regard as it gives you the perfect amount of time to have you ascertain your purchasing options. I recommend this game as a purchase because just from the demo alone it's a very fine game. My approval on games is as hard to achieve as a blind man with no limbs trying to find his way out of Silent Hill safely. Hear that, OUYAForum? It's RiotingSpectre approved.
