Concerning what you said about the second race being a check point race, something I noticed is sometimes it gives you the option to flip the order of the races. I can't tell if it is after failing a race a number of times or if you are on your last bike but it seems to be a feature that saves me from having to keep trying one track over and over while waiting on the timer in between to give me the chance to finish one race.

One strategy I have been using is playing one race with one bike and then using the other bike at least once so that both timers are counting down which makes the wait for a bike shorter. One of the issues is that you just start with two bikes. So, there aren't many at first to rotate. I stopped playing when I got the next three bikes unlocked. That should lower the wait time even more by using a similar strategy as with the two by playing each bike at least once so that by the time you get to the fifth one the first one has already counted down a lot and then after you have broke down every bike there might not be a wait at all for a bike. That kind of sucks though because it is forcing you to use a rotating bike strategy like that just so that you don't have to wait to play a game that you paid for and the bikes can't be used on all races.

Anyway, I believe Bucckets81 to be correct about it being designed around an IAP. One of the tips that pops up at the bottom of the screen says something like,"Service your bike frequently to win more races." or something like that. Why would it give one the advice to service it often unless they had an option to? Also, one of the achievements is rewarded after servicing a bike 10 times. The achievement is called,"Mr. Impatient". Unless one could shorten the hour with an IAP or by other means then they have no choice but to be patient.
I'm curious. The actual In-Application Purchase aspect of it might have been blocked off on the OUYA version. Try selecting one of the bikes that's in repair with the touch-pad and see what happens. Hell, use the touch-pad on any other place you think is suspicious and report back. Something about all this doesn't add up.

The game has no in app purchases, just the full game unlock. I believe the dev kept the repair times to have players explore different bikes, but feel free to share feedback if you would like them to change it.

I have a simple suggestion that would serve that purpose of exploring more bikes without it feeling like the game sessions have a time limit. When you run out of bikes all the timers go to 0.

I agree, the timer keeps me from playing for extended amounts of time. a trick I use is that if you aren't gonna qualify in the race, just go to the menu right before the race ends and restart or return to garage and it doesn't lower the condition of the bike

Gutted about all this I really am, I will still download it but paying for a game then having to wait a real 50 mins is not my idea of fun, having to rotate bikes meaning I can't use my favourite one just seems to put a downer on the whole game for me. Playing a mobile game like GT academy you expect it.

In the end, it is probably better not to use a single bike throughout the game, 1 being the different cc classes, and another just that if you can do significantly better on one track with a different bike, why not do so?

Maybe people like myself like the extra challenge? I mean, fuck. I beat F-Zero GX's Master Difficulty with all characters on all the cups in the game. Took three years and had aged me horribly but I played how I wanted to play like ninety-nine percent of other games out there.

Is there some trick to getting past the "Enter you nick name" when starting the game. So far nothing works for me after putting a name in.

Anyone else having this issue ?

Well i wanted to like it, but i just cant get over the fact that even when i'm laid on my side well battling another bike i don't fall off
I've got alot of Ouya credit right now, but unless a simulation mode comes out i'm not interested, even Moto Racer on the PS1 felt better, i'm pretty gutted to be honest as i've been looking forward to this for ages.
